Hi, I'm Olivia! I'm a third year Bachelor of Arts student at the University of Melbourne, majoring in English and Theatre studies. I graduated in 2018 with a raw study score of 48 in English, and my ATAR ranked in the top 3% of students in the state. I received the School Prize for English at my graduation.
- Currently not taking any more students for 2021. Thanks for your interest! -
I've been privately tutoring VCE English and Literature since my graduation from Caulfield Grammar School in 2018. English and Literature have always been my favourite subjects so I love to share my experience with other students! I have most experience tutoring VCE but am able to tutor students at any level.
My university specialisation in English, private tutoring experience, and having personally completed VCE English recently makes me uniquely qualified to help any student's needs. In 2019, I was a private tutor with a company specialising in providing VCE English tutors, and received training and resources that have built on my skills and expertise.
Through undertaking VCE English and Literature, tutoring, and university I have previous experience studying and teaching a large number of texts listed by VCAA. These are fully listed below my profile.
In university, my major involves in-depth study, analysis and criticism of major literary works. With this knowledge, I'm able to add an edge and further complexity to students' analysis of VCE texts. I hold an H1 (First Class Honours) average in my English major as well as my studies overall.
Below: VCAA listed texts I have experience studying and teaching- if a student is studying a text that's not on this list I'll of course be glad to learn another!
Rear Window (film) - All The Light We Cannot See - Ransom - The Longest Memory - The Namesake - After Darkness - Reckoning - Foreign Soil - Smoke Signals - Frankenstein - Stasiland - 1984 - Diary of a Madman - Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - North and South - Twelfth Night - New and Selected Works by Chris Wallace-Crabbe - Macbeth - Othello - Romeo & Juliet - Medea - Persepolis - Black Diggers - The Great Gatsby - Jane Eyre - Like a House on Fire - The Penelopiad - Nine Days - Photograph 51 - Station Eleven - To Kill a Mockingbird - Women of Troy - I am Malala - Made in Dagenham - Jasper Jones - The Reluctant Fundamentalist - Every Man in this Village is a Liar - Jindabyne (film) - 12 Angry Men - Lantana (film) - Speaking in Tongues - Hamlet - Will You Please Be Quiet, Please? - Various works by Sylvia Plath - Various works by Carol Ann Duffy - The Great Gatsby - The Importance of Being Earnest - Island - The Shawshank Redemption

Olivia was an amazing tutor! I could not have gotten through year 12 VCE english without her. She helped me so much and really showed a dedicated interest on how I went. Always making sure I understood my tasks. Anyone would be lucky to have her as a tutor!

I highly recommend Olivia as a tutor. She really helped me through this tough year in both units 3/4 English and 3/4 Literature. Her constant, useful feedback really helped me improve my writing in both subjects and allowed me to achieve high scores in both. She has been very patient and willing to learn and study new content in order to aid me in my learning. She has been extremely flexible with times and available for extra lessons which was extremely helpful. She was more than willing to provide me with articles, templates for notes and useful recourses all year. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for a tutor in both english and literature!

From the moment my daughter met Olivia, we were sure her VCE English year would go well. Olivia consistently demonstrated a passion and support for English beyond our expectations. So patient, available for additional lessons, expanding her repertoire to include the books my daughter was reading. Her knowledge and input was of the highest excellence. Techniques, tips and strategies to respond to all criteria of English SAC and VCE requirement were integral to my daughters grades improving from a C to an A+. She completed her VCE exam without the expected stress and anxiety. During the most unusual and compromising of years - VCE and Covid, Olivia was always calm. Nothing was an issue for her and quickly moving to remote learning to ensure classes would continue was already facilitated by Olivia. It has been an utter joy interacting with Olivia and I would recommend her in a milli second to anyone requiring assistance and expertise. I will call on Olivia again for my next teens VCE requirements. Well done Olivia - best of luck to you for all your pursuits.

Olivia has been an amazing tutor for me. Even during lockdown she has managed to keep me motivated to do my work and to not fall behind. I have gone from being a C & C+ student to B to A+. Olivia has used many different tactics and skills to help improve my English essay writing level. Olivia has been patient, calm, fun, supportive and encouraging for me. Even if I needed something repeated over 10 times she would still explain everything until I fully understood it and would make sure I would try and implement it so that it would stay confirmed longer. I have felt the most confident going into my SAC’s this year and also my exam. When I went into my exam Olivia had properly prepared me with quotes, language techniques and incredible structure. Olivia has been available around the clock to mark, look at , answer any questions that I had about English and giving a lot of thought and detail into her answers for me. I recommend Olivia for anyone that wants to improve their grades, needs help on English writing, wants a person to review work for them or someone that just overall wants to achieve a higher standard. Olivia has been the best choice for year 12 and she has been one of the key components for the success I have had and I am very grateful for her guidance and support

I honestly wouldn’t have gotten through year 12 without Olivia! At the start of the year I was super worried about English, as it was definitely the subject I struggled most with. I am a mega stress head but even just seeing Olivia once a week, and having that extra time outside of class with someone who knows what VCE is like, and how to navigate it, certainly made walking into SACs less scary! Olivia is really amazing at identifying strengths and weaknesses, so our sessions were always super valuable, focusing on the areas I needed individual improvement in. As a result, I began getting more in-depth feedback from teachers that I could then de-construct in my sessions with Olivia and apply to my writing. Not only does Liv have a gift for English, amazing resources, and strategies for staying organised, she always went above and beyond, whether that was making me templates for how to structure my notes and ideas, or sending me articles and journal pieces to get me thinking more in depth about my texts. She is truely the loveliest so not wanting to disappoint her gave me a huge amount of motivation to put work into my studies. I am so thankful to her and would 100% recommend her to anyone looking to smash English!

I could not recommend Olivia as a tutor enough! Going into year 12, english was my weakest subject having received a C in my end of year 11 exam. I began receiving tutoring from Olivia in year 12 (2019) and saw improvements immediately. Her lessons were tailored to my individual needs; focusing on my essay structure, vocabulary and clarity. Despite her lack of experience in tutoring Like a House on Fire, Rear Window, Photograph 51 and The Penelopiad, Olivia demonstrated a great knowledge in these areas through a range of themes and ideas covered in our lessons. Not only did Olivia provide me with extensive and individual feedback, she also provided me with a number of resources that allowed me to further my knowledge of each text. She helped me gain confidence throughout the year leading up to the final exam in which I received an A+, a big improvement from a C the previous year. This would not have been possible without Olivia and I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor.

I always felt that English was my weakest subject and yet in 2019 I graduated with a raw study score of 41 in English. Although I put in a lot of effort, I can confidently say that I could not have achieved that mark without Olivia's help and guidance. Throughout the year, she provided me with excellent resources, constructive feedback on essays and had an amazing insight on all the books that I studied. In 2019 I studied Frankenstein, Black Diggers and The Longest Memory. Olivia had amazing understanding of Frankenstein and she brought forth so many ideas that hadn't been covered in class. Although she hadn't previously studied Black Diggers and The Longest Memory she quickly caught on and had an etxensive understanding of those texts as well. Overall Olivia was very helpful in 2019 and I would definitely recommend her as a tutor!
