How does High School Tutors work?

Contacting tutors is simple!

It takes a few minutes to create an account and pick a plan that best suits you. After you join, you will be able to message as many tutors as you like until your plan expires.

This is an opportunity to ask the tutor about their tutoring style or let them know what your tutoring needs and goals are. It’s also a chance to confirm a time and place for your tutoring session.

Can you please contact the tutor for me?

As the tutors listed on High School Tutors are private tutors, they manage their own enquiries and tutoring sessions. It is easy to do a search for tutors around your area and message directly on the website.

What are the plans?

The website has 3 plans for students/parents;

Once you have paid for a plan, you can message as many tutors and as many times as you would like.

It’s not a subscription, so you just renew when your plan expires or when you need to use the website.

What if I have more than one child I need tutoring for?

As you can message as many tutors as you would like, so you can use the same account to contact tutors and coordinate for all your children.

I have contacted tutors and they have not responded. Have my messages gone through?

You can see all your messages when you login under “Messages”. Our top tip is to contact tutors who have earned a “Very Responsive” badge as they have shown us that they respond to enquiries within 24 hours.

You can also message a number of tutors so you have a range of options in finding the best tutor that suits you - nothing is confirmed until you say so.

What are badges for tutors?

Tutors can earn five types of badges

  1. Very Responsive - means that they have responded to messages within 24 hours
  2. Verified Mobile - they have a verified mobile number
  3. Verified Marks - we have sighted their transcript and it matches their overall mark
  4. Reviews - they have received reviews from previous students
  5. References - they have received character references

Does your website have screening for tutors?

No, we don’t screen our tutors for police checks and Working for Children Checks. Often tutors will add this into their description or you can always ask a tutor to see their documentation.

I have not received an activation email. What should I do?

Check your spam/junk inbox for the activation email as sometimes our emails can land in there. If you have tried to resend your activation email multiple times and you have not received it, email us at support@highschooltutors.com.au using the email address you signed up with and we’ll assist you from there.

I have tried to reset my password, but it’s not accepting the new password.

Sometimes there is a lag between receiving the reset password email and the system. Please be patient and it can take a few minutes for the email to arrive in your inbox.

I used to be a student, but I would like to begin tutoring. How do I switch my account?

Fantastic! You can email support@highschooltutors.com.au with the email associated with your account. We can help you from there.

How do I get a ‘Very Responsive’ badge?

Respond to your messages within 24 hours to get a ‘Very Responsive’ badge on your listing.

I’ve already responded to the message. Can I still get the ‘Very Responsive’ badge?

If you have taken the conversation offline on another messaging channel such as SMS, please ensure you let the parent/student know “I have texted you!”. This will let the system know that you have responded and keep your badge.

Am I employed by High School Tutors?

No. All tutors listed on the website are not employed by us. All tutoring sessions and transactions occur between the tutor and the parent/student.

I am transitioning from a high school student to a university student. How do I change this?

You can go to the ‘Account’ tab at the top of the website and click on ‘Listing’ tab and under My Listing, you can change your listing type.
