About
Hi, I'm Julianne! I'm an international grad student at University of Queensland studying Conservation Science. I also have Bachelor's of Science in Zoology from SUNY Oswego in New York. I hope to one day use my education to become a professor or other form of science educator, specializing in ornithology and ecology.
I currently specialize in the life sciences, including biology, anatomy, and ecology/environmental studies. I'm also proficient in advanced maths, including calculus. Although I do not have a formal education in religious studies, I was raised Unitarian Universalist and have been studying theories of world religion in my free time for many years now. I also have been involved with various philosophy clubs and classes since high school, and have a passion for creative writing.
I have experience with education by spending four years as a counselor at nature-based and zoo camps, and I tend to use a Method of Reflective Equilibrium kind of approach when tutoring: essentially, prompting students to closely examine and break down an idea or topic until they can narrow in on exactly where the blind spots are. I'm most familiar with tutoring students ages 11-14, but am comfortable working with students of all ages.
Due to my graduate class schedule, my tutoring hours generally begin at 5pm on Sunday-Thursday, and at any time on Friday and Saturday.
