About

hello <3 !!! I'm Kassia (Kass for short), I'm a 23 year old trans woman studying maths at uni. I also have autism, ADHD and some nebulous fatigue issue! I had a pretty rough time in highschool -- it tends to be pretty rigid in how things are taught and it sucks being treated as not really a full human. I wanna make an environment that is comfortable and adapted to you (especially for queer and neurodivergent folk!), and most of all I wanna clarify that, like, we're equal! I'm not a school teacher. I'm just here to help out, and if something's not working or not feeling right, I want you to feel safe to communicate it :) In terms of "teaching style", I like to pull back concepts and help you get an idea for the intuition behind them; like, why do we use this equation? Where did it come from? What's it actually doing? It can make things really fit together in a way that makes a lot more sense when you actually understand the mechanism, rather than just doing the process. More about me: uhhhm I like lots of things haha! - I love sci-fi and fantasy, I particularly love ttrpgs (table-top roleplaying games; Dungeons & Dragons and the like) and how it helps you tell stories with your friends. - I have a lot of fun with worldbuilding, constructing fictional settings even if I never end up writing a story in them. - I like videogames as well, Dark Souls and Bloodborne will be in my brain forever, Deltarune is cool! - I like art and literature and talking about it too. It's fun to talk about media. - I like talking about and learning random little history and science facts and insert them randomly into conversations. Things in maths that I think are really cool: - the Riemann sphere (a number plane that actually includes infinity!), - the Fourier transform (a very magical integral that can isolate complicated waves into what frequencies make it up), - and vector spaces (a concept that is so generalised that it connects things that seem completely unrelated). My expectations of you are basically, be nice and treat me like a person. Let me know what you actually wanna learn about and what you have difficulties with. Tell me if you don't understand something! It's totally fine if you're not getting it and you just wanna move on to something else. I'm never gonna judge you for not knowing or understanding something. Also, if something feels too confronting to tell me in person, feel free to write it down, or message it to me. I'm pretty flexible in terms of availability, just let me know what you're looking for. hope to see you soon :)
