About
98.55 ATAR | 2025 QASMT GRADUATE | 7 IN AAHL MATH, CHEM HL, PHYSICS SL | DRIVE TO YOU | BLUE CARD
Hi, I'm Edward — a Toowong-based tutor and current University of Queensland student with provisional entry into the postgraduate Medicine program. I graduated in 2025 from the Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology (QASMT), one of Queensland's most academically selective schools, where I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
I specialise in senior high school Maths (Methods and Specialist), Chemistry, and Physics for both QCE and IB students, as well as UCAT preparation for students applying to Medicine or Dentistry.
My results speak to my depth in these subjects. I graduated with an unadjusted IB score of 42.5 (equivalent to roughly 98.55 ATAR), achieving high 7s — well above the grade boundary — in Chemistry Higher Level, AA Maths Higher Level (the IB equivalent of Specialist Maths), and Physics Standard Level. I also earned an A in my Extended Essay in Chemistry and secured all 3 core points, finishing as a QASMT Honours student with a 7.0 GPA. For the UCAT, I scored 2450 — a top 3% result nationally — including a perfect score in Quantitative Reasoning and a top 1% result in Situational Judgement.
Before and during my final years at school, I worked for two years as a Kumon Maths and English tutor, and have since tutored students privately across a range of year levels and subjects. That experience has shaped how I teach: I focus on making sure students genuinely understand the material rather than just memorising steps, and I adjust my pace and approach to suit each student.
For exam and assignment work, I help students break down what is actually being asked, identify gaps in their understanding, and build the problem-solving habits that hold up under exam conditions. For UCAT, I work with students from any starting point and focus on developing the reasoning strategies that make the biggest difference to their score.
I am available for in-person sessions across Brisbane (I can drive to you or meet at a local library) and online sessions via video call. I am also happy to answer quick questions between sessions for students who need support outside of lesson time. Feel free to send me a message — I would love to help.
