| IB 44.5 | | ATAR 99.75 | | Online tutoring | Hi, my name’s Merin :) I’m a 2022 of the Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology, and I achieved an IB 44.5 (ATAR 99.75). I’m currently in my second year of Medicine at JCU, from where I aspire to graduate with the opportunity to provide healthcare to underserved Australian communities. While I initially found the IB program challenging, I was able to reflect on my weaknesses in each subject and develop useful study strategies. I subsequently progressed towards being a higher-achieving student by the end of grade 12. I have been tutoring in grades 10-12 for over a year now. While tutoring, I share these study strategies alongside various resources that I’ve compiled over the last few years. I have a flexible teaching style, and I aim to cater to each individuals’ unique learning style, pace and academic goals. I offer tutoring for: - Mathematics AA SL (7/7) (92%) - Chemistry HL (7/7) - Physics SL (7/7) - Business HL (7/7) - English Language & Literature HL (7/7) (tutoring for paper 1) I can provide subject-specific material (including detailed notes and questions of varying difficulty levels), comprehensive and constructive IA and exam feedback, and examples of my own assessments. Through this, I believe that students would develop an understanding of common mistakes to avoid and key elements to consider when writing assessments.

Merin tutored me in Maths AA SL during year 12. I found her to be very patient and approachable as a tutor. Her ability to explain a concept in multiple ways (i.e. if one method is hard to grasp, she takes the time to explain a different approach to the question), was something that I found to be very helpful, as it offered a new perspective to the topic and helped me better understand what it was exactly that the question required. The tutoring sessions were well structured and comprehensive as she began each lesson with an explanation of the topic first, before then providing example questions to work through. Overall, her teaching style is very accommodative to the needs of the student, creating a comfortable atmosphere. I was very happy with our tutoring sessions and with my final IB maths result.
