I'm a 2023 graduate from Brisbane State High School and am currently studying a Bachelor of Science with provisional entry into a Doctor of Medicine at The University of Queensland. You might have seen me featured in articles by 7News and The Courier Mail, where I talk about how to maximise outcomes in our education system! As someone who has left the high school 3 years ago, I know how tough school can be. I haven't always had top results in my classes, and I know that it's not easy to improve. But I worked extremely diligently, and by the time I got to year 12, I scored exceptionally well in all of my courses, eventually graduating as the top student out of 53,181 graduates in Queensland. While most students undertook 6 subjects, I studied 8 subjects in year 12, including a university course (which I received a perfect score in). Through my own experiences, I am positive I can show you the way to success, whatever your goals are. In the past, I've been a student at several tuition centres and I have also been a tutor since 2022 (including at Padea Education and at XCV Tutoring), helping both primary and high school students online, in-person, and at school programs. With my extensive experience in tutoring, some of my recent students got a higher ATAR than me, and some students are studying medicine/dentistry and various other competitive degrees at different universities around Australia! What sets me apart from the other tutors is that, I've worked with a diverse range of students, from students who are wanting to pass their subjects to those who are aiming for 100%, and I've helped primary school students up to university students. I have up-to-date resources and knowledge that you need to succeed, and I’ve also tried every exam and past external paper on QCAA. For senior students, that means that I can help you work through those and give you targeted advice. Additionally, I have looked through the new 2025 syllabus for current year 12 students, and am confident with all the learning objectives for the subjects that I’m offering. More specifically, my tutoring revolves around maximising the marks that you can receive in every assessment and exam by focusing on the marking guides and syllabuses, helping you achieve the results that you’re looking for. As a bonus, if you're also someone going for academic or leadership scholarships, applying to medicine/dentistry, or wanting to get ahead with UCAT, I can support you. For UCAT, I've used MedEntry, Medify and iCanMed to prepare, so if you're wanting to know more about those platforms, I can provide some advice. As an affiliate, I can also give you a discount on MedEntry courses. With medicine/dentistry interviews, the same thing applies. As someone who’s received 9 medicine and dentistry interview offers and 4 medicine offers, I have the experience and results to prove that I’ve got what it takes to excel in these high-stakes interviews. In Year 12, I took private interview classes myself, so I know how to best tackle interviews to help you get into your dream course. Currently, I am looking for in person students at Garden City Library on Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings! I am always looking for online students. In general, I do not travel to people's homes. I ONLY TAKE PREPAYMENTS (MONTHLY PREPAYMENTS FOR LONG-TERM STUDENTS). Online: 1 student: $70/hr 2 students: $45/hr In person: 1 student: $85/hr 2 students: $50/hr 3 students: $40/hr UCAT - $80/hr (in person is $90/hr) Medicine/dentistry interviews - $100/hr I also founded 100Tutoring, where I've hired tutors who are just as passionate about teaching as I am! If you're looking for a reliable tutor who can offer tutoring at a lower price than I can, please reach out. If you are interested, you can send me a message here, via social media or through the website (search 100Tutoring online)!

Reviews

Joshua was an incredible tutor for my medical interview preparation, and I can confidently say his guidance played a major role in helping me get into medicine. His material was extremely helpful and well structured, and his tutoring style is clear and concise. Before working with Joshua, I was using MedEntry, but I found some of their content to be bloated and overwhelming. Joshua’s approach is much more straightforward and accessible. He helped me build strong responses, improve my communication, and understand exactly what interviewers are looking for. However, what stood out most was his support outside of tutoring hours. He was always willing to answer my questions, and even now that I’ve made it into UQ med, he continues to help me with subject selections and other advice. His dedication goes above and beyond. I couldn’t recommend Joshua enough. He is an excellent tutor who genuinely cares about his students’ success.

Josh is really engaging and kind. He doesn’t just stop at the basics but always makes sure I understand the deeper side of things. He’s super helpful and makes learning feel less stressful and more enjoyable.

Joshua has been an amazing tutor, always taking care to walk me through the difficult concepts and processes I struggle with, and in a way I can understand. He also makes an effort to build rapport, making lessons more enjoyable. Despite being a busy med student with many commitments, Joshua is highly organised and flexible with lessons. He has offered catch-up lessons without fail whenever we missed a session, which has been invaluable for me. For these reasons, I recommend him!

Josh teaches the concepts very thoroughly and makes sure that every part is understood before moving on. I find that he makes hard concepts easy to understand and it makes him a great teacher.

Joshua knows the QCAA syllabus inside out, and he can answer any question about any maths topic. Whether it’s the hardest ‘Complex Unfamiliar’ exam questions, or a problem-solving assignment, he helps me get the best results possible!!

Amazing tutor. Very easy to communicate and connect with. Understands my every area of concern and helps targets those areas. I’m more confident than ever for my spec exams now :).

Character references

Joshua is conscientious, amicable, and has an affinity for fully articulating complex ideas in a comprehensive manner. As a former classmate of his I can attest that he is well versed in the subjects he tutors, and it is rewarding to work with him.

Throughout my senior schooling, I have worked with Joshua extensively. His dedication and commitment to understanding a concept before moving on to something else is commendable. His unique thinking has allowed him to solve difficult problems in the STEM field, which can be useful for students looking to have a methodical approach to high-level questions. This may be due to Joshua’s logical and systematic approach to questions, which can be seen in his chess prowess, and his success in math olympiads. Due to these factors, as well as his caring nature, I would highly recommend Joshua as a private tutor for all ages.
