About

Hi I’m Hamish! I’m currently in my third year at UQ studying Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) majoring in Bioprocess Engineering. Thats Chemical Engineering. I’m best to help you with Maths General, Maths Methods, Maths Specialist, Chemistry, French, Physics. I am of course capable of teaching any of these general subjects at lower levels where they are named and grouped differently as well as many more subjects you can find listed in my profile. I received marks of: - Chemistry 91% - French 90% - Maths Methods 83% - Maths Specialist 73% - Physics 81% I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a test taker. My results were better prior to the final exams as I suffer in high stress tests, but I love to learn and teaching is a real passion of mine. I had unscaled assignment averages of: - Chemistry 92.5% - French 96.66% - Maths Methods 90% - Maths Specialist 100% - Physics 82.5% I also attended high school at St Peter’s Lutheran College (Indooroopilly) maintaining a 100% academic scholarship from year 8 until graduation. I love to teach. I loved having the opportunity to help out my peers in class and I did exceptionally on assignment work. I’ve tutored family friends and informally tutored others in my classes to improve my own understanding of topics (no better way to learn than to teach). I am a very hands on teacher and love to guide students to the correct path so they understand the underlying principles rather than attempting to rote learn my words. Looking forward to your inquiry!

Reviews

Hamish started tutoring my daughter when she was in GRADE 11 last year 2023 for Physics subject. We are continuing with the Physics tutions this for Year 12. We would like to thank Hamish for his teaching style and knowledge on the subject because of which my daughter's grades have improved.

Hamish is a responsible, caring tutor. He improves my son's grades from C's to A's within a term. My son learns a lot through tutoring, now being able to manage his homework independently, organise his studies, and understand teachers' requirement of tasks/assessments. Million thanks to Hamish for bringing back Chris' confidence in his studies and having the passion to teach him.

Character references

Hamish was a student in my French class for almost 6 years. He was a great student, worked hard, put in a lot of effort and engaged with positivity and enthusiasm in all his interactions with his teacher and peers. I believe Hamish would be a great Tutor as he is an excellent comminucator, can make learning fun and engaging and has a caring and compassionate nature. Hamish is also patient and understanding of other student's learning needs.

I have had the pleasure of working with Hamish for many years both as his classroom teacher and sporting coach, and I can confidently say that he possesses a unique combination of skills that make him well-suited to a role as an academic tutor. As a student, Hamish demonstrated exceptional academic ability in all subjects, including both Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. He had a natural aptitude for problem-solving and was able to quickly grasp complex mathematical concepts. I believe that his academic achievements reflect his dedication and hard work, and he would be a great asset to any student seeking to improve their academic performance. Apart from his academic skills, Hamish also possesses excellent communication skills, which were evident in his work in class as a peer tutor. Hamish frequently spent time helping his classmates, where he could clearly explain concepts in a manner that deepened their understanding of the subject. His ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with his peers would be invaluable in the role of a tutor. In addition to his academic and communication skills, Hamish is also highly organised and possesses excellent time-management skills. He has a knack for creating effective revision-schedules and plans, which he could share with his students to help them manage their work loads. Highly skilled, dedicated, and passionate about helping students reach their full potential, I highly recommend Hamish as an excellent tutor. Mike Cujes. Travel policy

Case by case basis. Let me know where you are and I can sort out pricing. I hate to add an extra charge but the reason for this is that driving 20 minutes to you, tutoring 1 hour, then 20 minutes back leaves me with another 40 minutes on top of the session completely unpaid so I do need to charge for longer travel.
