About

Hi! I'm Heeju. I am currently in the provisional medicine entry scheme at the University of Queensland. I graduated from Saint Kentigern College in 2020 with a full 45 points in the International Baccalaureate diploma, equivalent to a 99.95 ATAR. For my undergraduate, I’m doing a Bachelor of Science and Arts, majoring in Biomedical Sciences, Mathematics and Latin. I am passionate about helping you discover and pursue your academic passions, and will always do my best to help you achieve your academic goals. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ What I Teach: I mostly tutor Mathematics, Biology, English and Latin at varying levels. I can also always offer general help with the IB programme or with med entry/UCAT. Of course, I have more specialized/curriculum specific insight into the subjects that I took for my IB diploma, which were: English LL (SL), Chemistry (SL), Latin (SL, EE), Mathematics (HL), Physics (HL), and Biology (HL). _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Previous Tutoring Experience and Credentials: I peer tutored in high school for three years and at Crimson Education for a year. Students have provided positive feedback, said they’ve understood new concepts and rated me 4.9/5 stars on Crimson Education. Furthermore, there is the personal insight and knowledge I’ve gained during my two years in the IB program and my experience with med school applications. For the IB, I scored 7s for all my subjects, 29/30 in TOK, and 34/34 for my Latin EE on Cicero's Somnium Scipionis. In terms of med entry, I am familiar with the interview/application process and scored 3100 on my UCAT exam (98th percentile), on my first attempt. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ My Approach: I believe that academic success comes from personalizing your understanding and finding study methods that work for you. Every student learns differently, and sometimes it takes thinking about a topic in one particular way or using one specific learning technique for that “aha” moment. Finally, I understand that school can be a challenging time and I never want my lessons to add any additional stress. The workload of each lesson can be tailored to you, and I will always prioritize your mental wellbeing. I genuinely care about all my students and frequently check in with them, and am flexible with my lessons so that I can cater to your needs :)
