Hi, my name is Brooke and I'm here to be your student's mentor and tutor for high school! I worked hard and achieved my best all the way from Grades 7-12, learning how to learn and what to pay attention to, to achieve success. Motivation and confidence in what you're doing is 70% of the battle, and I can encourage students to get the best marks and extracurricular achievements with the least wasted time and frustration. My tutoring strategy is based on the Socratic Method, guiding students to the correct answers through asking questions. This increases their confidence in their own abilities, rather than just answering every question for them.
For students looking to get into Medicine, I can also help coach them to play the game of admission into these selective programs, having been offered my UQ interview before ATARs were even released!
I studied Mathematics (Methods and Specialist), Chemistry, Biology, English, and Chinese (as a second language) and achieved an ATAR of 99.45. I also took the UCAT and achieved a score of 3140/B2. I graduated early from a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and Neuroscience (2024) and am a current Doctor of Medicine student at UQ.
My marks for subjects are:
English: 99/100
Biology: 97/100
Specialist: 91/100
Methods: 95/100
Chemistry: 95/100
Chinese: 97/100
ATAR: 99.45
UCAT: 3140 (98th percentile) - 720VR, 790DM, 760QR, 870AR
I have extensive experience tutoring students of all ages and abilities, from Year 3 students struggling with maths homework to Year 12 students aiming for full marks and medical admission (and everything in between). I have helped over 40 students achieve their personal goals and find a passion for learning.
I truly enjoy teaching and supporting students of all learning styles, with some of my past and current students working with dyslexia, ADHD, and ASD. Excelling at school extends beyond theoretical knowledge, and includes classroom, planning, time management, and active learning skills. I support my students with this by helping them set up organisation that works for them, whether it be Google Calendar, Notion, or a paper diary!
My teaching style is to help students gain the knowledge to answer any question, but most importantly, provide them with the logic and reasoning skills to approach all questions in all subjects with confidence. I also dedicate time to helping students understand exactly what is being asked of them through task and criteria sheets, ensuring that they meet the objectives and get the best marks with minimum wasted time.
As a tutor, I can provide full high-scoring assignments for all my subjects, as well as detailed Mathematics and Biology subject notes, and fully worked examples for tricky questions.
ASSIGNMENT EDITING
I also offer once-off editing of assignments. Simply send me the assignment, task sheet, and criteria sheet, and I will leave detailed comments and suggestions for every part of the assignment, as well as marking it on the criteria sheet to give you an idea of your grade.
I had significant experience doing this in senior high school, where my peers used this to improve their marks. I offer a flat rate of $40 for up to grade 10, and $50 for grades 11 and 12.
Notice: For all sessions, a 24-hour cancellation period applies.
