I am a Permanent Full-Time Secondary Teacher with Education Queensland, with over 10 years’ experience teaching QCAA Senior Biology. I began teaching Senior Biology in 2014 and have supported students through multiple syllabus changes and assessment formats. In addition to QCAA, I have taught IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) Biology internationally in Beijing, China. I also have extensive classroom experience across a range of science and mathematics subjects, including Physics, Science in Practice, General Mathematics, Junior Mathematics and Junior Science. A key focus of my tutoring is helping students understand exactly what assessors are looking for. Many capable students lose marks not because they lack knowledge, but because they misunderstand the language of the mark scheme. My strength as a tutor is translating assessment criteria into clear, everyday language and guiding students to structure responses that directly address the marking standards — a skill that is essential for achieving high-level results in internal assessments. I also place strong emphasis on preparing students for the Year 12 External Assessment. I have access to a wide range of high-quality mock exams and exemplar responses, aligned to the QCAA Endorsed Assessment Marking Guides (EAMGs), which I use to build exam technique, confidence and time-management skills. I aim to not only improve academic performance, but to help students feel more confident, organised and less overwhelmed by senior Biology. I currently have two weekly afternoon tutoring sessions available for Term 1, 2026.
