Hey! My name is Susie, and I'm a 2016 HSC All-rounder recipient, offering tutoring for HSC Modern History, Ancient History and History Extension!

I have experience tutoring both privately and with groups, along with experience teaching History on a mass scale, writing full-length, professionally published study guides for Modern and Ancient History, and lecturing thousands of students for all three at UTS with ATAR Notes. As the humanities faculty manager for ATAR Notes, I not only ran weekend classes for both Modern and Ancient History, but also managed a team of excellent tutors in other humanities subjects.
MY STUDENTS RESULTS:
My students have always received consistently high results. Here are the stats:
- More than 50% of all my students ranked 1st within their cohort for history.
- None of my students for Modern History or Ancient History received a grade lower than band 5 (80% +). Most achieved a Band 6 (90% +), the highest mark being 97% in ancient history (which put them in the top 20 students of the 2019 cohort).
- None of my history extension students received a grade below E4 (the highest possible band), with the highest mark being 48/50.
HOW IT WORKS:
I offer one-off 1-2 hour tutoring sessions at an hourly rate of $80 p/hour, for students looking for extra support with their history studies. This includes, but is not limited to;
- History Extension Major Work Support
- Content tutoring
- Skills building (source analysis, essay writing, etc.)
- Exam/Essay marking
For a flat rate of $270, I also offer supervised 1.5-3 hour practice exams under full exam conditions. All of my exam papers are written by me, and are exclusively available to my students. This offer includes detailed feedback on all exam responses, available to you within 5 business days, or for an additional $30, a 1/2 hour session where we can go through your responses together.
Tutoring sessions are catered to the needs of the student, however there will always be an overriding focus on the crucial skills, such as essay writing and source analysis, required to succeed. Content tutoring is also available, however keep in mind that due to the nature of these subjects I cannot guarantee that I have experience teaching your particular units of study, so make sure to reach out beforehand if content tutoring is something you require.

Susie has really made my final year at school enjoyable. Susie has been an amazing tutor for my year 12 studies! Not only does she provide an extensive knowledge on the content required for each course, she knows exactly how to approach the examination with many useful insights from experience. Discussions with Susie are always perceptive and contribute to synthesising my understanding of a topic. Being able to receive tutoring from someone who is passionate about history has been such a benefit and has always sustained my engagement and interest. As a result of Susie's help, I have managed to place 1st rank in Modern, Ancient and Extension history within my school. Susie is a kind and passionate tutor, who takes a great interest in her students needs. She is always prepared for each session and is happy to answer any questions you may have. I started getting tutoring from Susie in my final term of yr 12 in preparation for my hsc exams in all 3 history subjects which was an amazing choice. Susie has helped me improve my essay-writing, especially in History Extension. Throughout the year, she has given me tips how to approach questions and study tips pre-Trials and HSC! I managed to rank 1st in Modern History and History Extension consistently, and also received a 24/25 for my History Extension Major Work.

Susie has been an incredible help to me this year. I study Modern, Ancient and Extension, and she has been able to help me with all three, and even with English. I cannot recommend her enough- she is kind, understanding, very intelligent, and she explains things very easily. There’s no pressure at all, and she always makes sure I understand what she’s explaining before moving on. She offers feedback on essays, and has guided the notes and tables that I have made for my subjects. If you need help with content she knows it even if she hasn’t studied it, because she has gone to the effort to learn all the topics. She is also a great help with structuring essays and essay plans. She has been an enormous help, I went from the middle of my class before trials to top 5 in all the histories.

Susie tutored me for Modern History throughout Year 12, and I am thankful for my wonderful experience with her. She understood my concerns, noted my weaknesses in the subject and helped me improve greatly in source analysis, essay writing and memorisation of core information. Susie is an outstanding, highly commendedable history tutor, tutoring me both in Modern and History Extension. I began sessions with her in term two, for my second assessment task, and from that, my marks and rank from 6th, placed me at a competitive rank at 2nd place, and a 23/25 in my Russia Essay! Also helping me achieve an 86% in my Half Yearly, full marks in my personality study and a 91% in my trial!!
History extension was no different, My first assessment task was a 20/25 for q1, what is history, in the Half Yearlies. But following tutoring sessions, I achieved an e4 in my extension project and in my trials, full marks (25/25) in question 1 and a 21/25 in question 2!!
From these sessions,
I have found that not only have my ranks and marks rose substantially (now achieving an equal 1st rank in Modern and a 1st in Extension), but my ability to construct essays, arguments, as well as thinking critically, has substantially improved and most importantly, my passion for history.
Susie is a lovely, intelligent and friendly tutor, with an outstanding amount of passion and strong ability to teach in all area of history - I would recommend her to anyone who wants to improve their marks, ranks and love for history!

The best decision I ever made!
Before starting with Susie, I had little to no idea how to write a proper English essay (very problematic in my case as I do three units of English) I saw improvement within the first few sessions as Susie could quickly remedy areas that I needed to improve on. She is next level when it comes to modern history. With her stellar knowledge and help, I saw able to rank 1st within my cohort during Term 2 as well come in the top 10 for English. My essay writing improved so dramatically overall that I managed to also rank 4th in legal studies, 3rd in Studies of Religion, and 2nd in Extension 1 English (subjects which she didn't even directly teach!)
I honestly could not imagine doing my HSC without her guidance!

Character references
Susie is an excellent tutor to say the least! She has a great attitude and work ethic and is constantly encouraging and supporting me in all sectors of my study. Without Susie, I feel that my HSC Modern and Ancient History Courses, as well as Drama, would have been at a significantly lower standard. Susie has helped me from Term 4 of 2017 up until today to achieve the results I needed in these difficult subjects. Susie is a true fountain of knowledge and her guidance throughout this stressful time not only academically but also mentally will never be forgotten. She is always willing and ready to help and is extremely flexible with all her students. Susie is an amazing tutor whom I fully recommend to all others. When I started meeting with Susie my marks in Ancient were terrible and I was near bottom of my class. Over just a couple months of tutoring my marks skyrocketed and it's all due to the engaging and precise teaching Susie gave.
Susie is extremely passionate about history and it shows through her thorough knowledge of all the course content, but also in teaching the correct application of this as well. I had been wanting to be tutored for a while but was really intimidated. After I had a couple of sessions with Susie, I realised that there was little to worry about. She understands my learning pace and has a genuine care for my succession in the HSC. Her kind and nurturing presence and ability to academically challenge me to set goals are just some of the reasons why I keep going. I feel so lucky to have been able to receive tutoring from Susie in both Modern and Extension History this year! She was able to explain all content material in a way which was super concise, engaging, and easy to understand, and offered useful and thorough feedback on all my practice essays. Susie is an incredible tutor and mentor! She has an amazing range of sources and tools, and she's incredibly flexible in terms of content! Because of her amazing editing skills and history expertise, I was able to get full marks on my History Ext. Major Work, as well as achieving high marks in Ancient, History Ext. and Modern (so much so that I received an award for Modern upon graduation!)

Susie is the most passionate, enthused and thorough student of History that I've come in contact with. Such qualities beam from her discussion of any discussion of social and political histories. Most importantly, however, she is able to explain some of the most intricate and complex historical scenarios in a way thats not intimidating and easy to understand. In a subject absolutely smothered by dense textbooks, drowned in dates and bursting with contradictory interpretations, it is incredibly important to have someone like Susie to help you through your Year 12 studies.
I would give my highest of recommendations to Susie as your next potential tutor!

I hired Susie in December 2016 to author Course Notes for Modern and Ancient History, and to prepare lectures for HSC students.
She is truly phenomenal, both academically and interpersonally. It's clear to me that her intellect is second to none, and I can personally attest to her communication skills and educational abilities. I've seen hundreds of students in fits of laughter at her jokes, only to turn deadly silent as she begins to explain something that's never made sense to them before. Our lecture attendees consistently rate her as exceptional, and anecdotally, I've only ever heard students rave about her lectures.
