I tutor Years 7–12 in English, Business Studies and Biology, taught directly to the NESA syllabus. 🧑‍🏫 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 No two students get the same lessons. Prior to and during the first session I go through recent assessments and set work to see exactly where marks are lost, often being: a weak thesis, analysis that summarises instead of arguing, gaps in content, or poor exam timing. We work on the biggest weakness until it's a strength, then move to the next weakest area, and repeat. Lessons are built around your school's assessment schedule, so we're preparing for what's actually coming up. Lessons are active. Students explain their reasoning, draft paragraphs live, and work through questions with me rather than watching me do them. 📖 𝐁𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 • 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡: Essays are built in layers: thesis, then evidence, then analysis that connects to the module's ideas. Drafts are marked against NESA marking criteria, so students know exactly why a response sits where it does. I cover all prescribed texts across Standard, Advanced and Extension 1, plus Extension 2 Major Work support. • 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲: Content is taught dot point by dot point from the syllabus, then applied straight away to short-answer and extended-response questions, including depth study support. I prioritise the use of diagrams and flowcharts to make retaining what can often appear as mountains of content, as attainable and easy as possible. • 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬: Theory is tied to case studies from the start, and extended responses are structured to hit every part of the marking criteria. 📝 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 Homework starts with whatever we covered in the lesson and builds towards HSC-style questions and past papers. Students send written work between lessons, and I return detailed feedback on both content and expression. Questions/clarification between lessons is encouraged and students can reach me through iMessage, WhatsApp, Signal etc. ✅ 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐬 Students who turn up consistently and do the work between lessons get the most out of this. It works best as ongoing support across a term or year rather than a single session before an exam, though I'm happy to help with exam prep too. 📚 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 I know the prescribed texts for every module across Standard, Advanced and Extension 1. Students get written feedback and annotations on every draft, whether it's an essay, a creative or a discursive piece. 💼 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 I teach it through case studies and exam-style responses.
