What am I studying now? I am currently studying a Master of Teaching (Secondary), specialising in Science, at the University of New England. I have previously completed a Bachelor of Advanced Science (Pre-Medicine) at the University of Technology Sydney. Alongside my studies, I have gained valuable experience teaching Science to secondary school students. This has helped me develop my teaching skills, understand different learning needs and build my confidence in supporting students academically. What were your best subjects and marks? Throughout my education, Science has always been one of my strongest subjects, particularly Biology and Chemistry. My Bachelor of Advanced Science (Pre-Medicine) allowed me to develop a strong understanding of scientific concepts, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I have always enjoyed understanding how scientific concepts connect to everyday life, which is something I aim to share with my students. My academic background has given me the knowledge and confidence to explain challenging concepts in a clear and understandable way. My Teaching Style My teaching style is constructed on being engaging and adaptable to each student's individual learning needs. I use a combination of visual diagrams, real-life examples and interactive questioning to make difficult concepts much more simple. I also believe in breaking down difficult ideas into smaller, manageable steps and regularly checking in with the students. My goal is to help students genuinely understand what they are learning and develop confidence in their skills for science. How will I help as a tutor? Through my experience teaching secondary Science, I understand that students have different strengths, challenges and learning styles. I aim to identify areas where students may be struggling and provide personalised explanations, practice questions and constructive feedback. Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and progressing at their own pace.
