|| Early signups now open for 2027: Secure your preferred slot now || I’m Cato Hobsbawn, a VCE Maths and Science tutor specialising in Math Methods, Specialist Maths, Chemistry, and Physics. I am delighted to once again offer one-on-one tutoring services to students undertaking VCE Units 1-4 in 2027. I completed VCE in 2025 and achieved an ATAR of 99.85. I obtained study scores of 45+ in my subjects, including: • Mathematical Methods- 50 and Premier’s Award • Specialist Mathematics- 49 • Chemistry- 47 • Physics- 46 I also completed UMEP Mathematics at the University of Melbourne (H1), and I'm now studying Engineering and Applied Mathematics there (90+ WAM). My experience I’ve completed 150+ hours of both one-on-one and group tutoring in 2026. Having recently completed VCE, I have a nuanced understanding of both the current study design and the experiences Year 11 and 12 students face with SACs and exams. This allows me to tailor my lessons towards maximising my students’ learning and their ability to perform under timed conditions. A major focus of my teaching is helping students navigate the high-pressure nature of VCE. Throughout the year, and especially in the lead up to exams, I incorporate practical stress management strategies to ensure students feel calm, prepared, and capable under timed conditions. This holistic approach improves students’ wellbeing throughout the year and leads to stronger, more consistent results. What I offer I offer private, one-on-one 60-minute lessons with my students at a location of their convenience or online. Students can bring their own material and questions they require help with, and I can provide additional guided practice material as well. This includes SAC and exam preparation too. I work with my students to cover any gaps or weaknesses in their understanding, and then develop their critical thinking skills within the domain of the subject to help them deal with the toughest separator questions. Pricing I charge $80/hr for Year 12 students and $70/hr for Year 11 students. A 30min trial lesson is available free of charge, and you can purchase one term of lessons upfront for a 10% discount. I can travel to your house or a library which is mutually convenient for an in-person lesson. I’m also available online for greater flexibility.
