Hi! My name is Joshua, and I am a university student with a strong academic background and experience tutoring students across a range of subjects. I have a particular passion for helping students understand difficult concepts and become more confident in their own abilities. I achieved strong results throughout school, including a 94 in Mathematics Ext 1 and a 98 in Music 2 (NSW), and completed AMEB Associate (Distinction) and Licentiate piano diplomas. I was also a finalist in the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition. I am currently studying Advanced Science and Computer Science at the Australian National University and have continued to develop my skills in mathematics, computing and music. As a tutor, I focus on making lessons clear, practical and tailored to the individual student. Rather than simply giving students answers, I try to explain why something works and help them develop the skills to solve similar problems independently. I am patient and happy to explain a concept in multiple ways until it makes sense. I believe it is very important to explain a concept in multiple different ways such that a student can get a deep understanding of a concept rather than a rote learned surface level grasp. I can help with understanding course content, working through difficult questions, preparing for assessments and exams, developing effective study habits, and building confidence in areas where students may be struggling. I can also challenge students who are already performing well and help them work towards higher marks. My goal is for students to leave each lesson feeling like they understand something that previously seemed difficult, while also becoming more confident and independent learners.
