Band 6 English Tutor | 3 Years Experience | All Grades (Primary, Junior and Senior High School), including OC & Selective School | 📍ABOUT ME Hi! I’m Lauren. I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Cybersecurity and have been tutoring English for 3 years. I’m warm, approachable and patient, but I also make sure lessons stay focused and productive. I’ve received positive feedback from both students and parents for being able to keep students engaged while still giving clear, honest guidance. 📍 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE I achieved a Band 6 in English Advanced with a mark of 91/100 and ranked 4th internally. I have tutored for three years, with experience teaching a wide range of students across different levels, confidence and skills. I tutor students from Years 7–12, with particular experience in younger high school. I also have experience tutoring English Advanced, Standard and Studies. Many of my students have improved by at least one band, as well as becoming more confident in their writing, analysis and overall approach to English. 📍ABOUT THE LESSONS My lessons are structured around each student’s individual needs and goals. We usually begin by identifying areas of difficulty, reviewing recent schoolwork or looking at upcoming assessments. From there, we focus on a specific skill such as: • essay structure • textual analysis • comprehension • creative writing • grammar • exam technique I break concepts down clearly, work through examples with the student, and then have them apply the skill themselves so we can identify exactly what still needs improvement. I also place a strong emphasis on detailed feedback. I can review essays, homework and practice responses, explain what is working and what is holding the student back, and help them improve and polish their writing. My aim is not just to improve one assignment, but to give students practical strategies they can use independently in future assessments and exams. 📍FIRST SESSION The first session is a free diagnostic meeting where I get to know the student, understand what they feel confident with, identify areas for improvement and discuss their goals. This helps me plan future lessons around what will actually be most useful for them. I will then develop a specific plan and send it for parent review. 📍LOCATION I offer in-person tutoring around Sydney’s Inner South-West/Outer Inner West, including Burwood, Ashfield, Croydon Park, Strathfield, Belfield and Belmore. I also offer (and prefer) online sessions, which can be run on Google Meet, Teams or Zoom. Students are also welcome to travel to me.
