I am currently a first-year Bachelor of Science Engineer Major at the University of Melbourne, where I am continuing to develop my mathematical knowledge. I graduated from Presbyterian Ladies’ College with an ATAR of 96.10 and completed VCE English, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics and Japanese Second Language. I have experience teaching students from kindergarten through to high school. Every student learns differently, and an explanation that makes sense to one student may not work for another. As a tutor, I believe it’s my responsibility to adapt my teaching to each student and find the explanation that makes sense to them, rather than simply teaching in the way that makes sense to me. Having received tutoring myself throughout high school, I also understand that tutoring can sometimes feel intimidating, particularly when a student is struggling or feels behind. I don’t believe in stupid questions or expect students to understand something immediately. I’m always happy to slow down, go back to the basics or explain something differently until it clicks. My aim is to create a relaxed and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while gradually building their confidence. I am happy to assist students with Years 7–10 Mathematics and Years 7–12 English and Japanese, whether they are looking to strengthen their foundations, keep up with schoolwork, prepare for assessments or build confidence in subjects they find challenging.
