Hello, I’m Zela! I am currently completing my Master of Teaching at La Trobe University, where I have developed a strong understanding of VCE (11-12), Years 7–10 Victorian Curriculum, and the Australian Curriculum (ACARA). I have also successfully completed the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) above the required standard, hold a valid Working with Children Check, and have completed a 150-hr TEFL certification focused on English language instruction. Before beginning my teaching degree, I studied Literature and Creative Writing at New York University (NYU), alongside coursework in history, theatre, film, and new media. I previously completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma at an international school in Osaka, Japan. My teaching philosophy is centred on the belief that every student can succeed with the right support, encouragement, and opportunities to grow. I strive to create a welcoming learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, embracing challenges, and learning from mistakes. Whether we're analysing a text, refining an essay, or preparing for an assessment, my goal is to help students build confidence in their abilities and develop skills that extend beyond the classroom. While my primary focus is English language, literature, and writing, I am also happy to support students in related humanities subjects, as well as mathematics where appropriate.
