About

Hi there! My name is Alyssa 😊 I'm a qualified High School English and History teacher with over seven years of teaching and tutoring experience, dedicated to helping students achieve outstanding academic results while building confidence and independence. I specialise in HSC English (all levels), Modern History, Ancient History, History Extension, Studies of Religion (I & II), Legal Studies, and Business Studies. Whether a student is striving for a Band 6, preparing for major assessments, or simply looking to build stronger foundations, I provide personalised support tailored to their individual goals. Every lesson is carefully planned and taught by me; never outsourced or delivered through generic worksheets. My teaching combines explicit instruction, scaffolded learning, and proven exam strategies to help students break down complex concepts, organise sophisticated ideas, analyse texts and historical sources, and produce high-quality written responses with confidence. Students receive far more than just a weekly lesson. Each session includes personalised notes, comprehensive study guides, essay scaffolds, model responses, and targeted feedback to ensure they continue making progress between lessons. I also offer unlimited support via text and email, allowing students to ask questions, submit work for feedback, or seek clarification whenever they need it. Lessons are available online or in person from my dedicated home tutoring studio, providing a calm, comfortable, and distraction-free learning environment designed to maximise focus and productivity. I believe that communication with families is just as important as communication with students. Where appropriate, I provide regular progress updates, outlining strengths, areas for improvement, and clear next steps so parents remain informed and confident in their child's progress. My goal isn't simply to help students improve their marks, it's to teach them how to think, write, analyse, and study effectively so they develop skills that extend well beyond the classroom. By combining expert subject knowledge, structured support, and genuine encouragement, I help students become capable, motivated, and independent learners who approach their studies with confidence.
