My name is Andrew and I am currently studying a Masters of Secondary Education at Griffith University. My bachelors was in microbiology. I have taught in the classroom for several terms due to having a PTT (permission to teach) so I am very familiar with teaching and students. I also benefit from having a plethora of life experiences. I started my work career in construction before becoming a microbiologist and eventually joining the Australian Army and now becoming a teacher. I have met every type of person there is which helps me empathise and tailor my teaching approaches to the student. My teaching style focuses on building the mind of my students. Building a solid foundation of numeracy and literacy are quintessential for learning and I apply this philosophy in all skills. Any skill taught without the appropriate foundation will never develop properly. Of course, as a teacher, the curriculum must go on so I always like to include a few minutes of foundational skills practice at the start of lessons.
