About
✅ 5+ years of Private Tutoring experience
✅ 95.25 ATAR
✅ Student Leader for Support for Academic Success (SAS)
Hi, my name is David Bond. I graduated from Brisbane State Highschool in 2022 with a 95.25 ATAR, and I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Science / Master of Teaching at QUT. I've been tutoring since 2021, so I've now spent five years helping students not just improve their marks, but genuinely understand and enjoy the subjects they're studying.
I mainly tutor high school maths and science, with a particular focus on Maths Methods for Year 11 and 12, though I'm confident and happy to help across other subjects too, including biology and related subjects at a university level.
Quality teaching is something I've always admired and had an immense appreciation for. Helping my peers in high school made me realise it was something I was genuinely passionate about, which led me into private tutoring and, eventually, into studying teaching myself.
My teaching style is relaxed and conversational. I try to make our lessons as enjoyable as possible rather than another chore, because if you're not enjoying it even a little, you're less likely to stick with it. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, thinking out loud, and getting things wrong, because that's how real learning happens. So sessions tend to feel easy-going and students are often surprised by how much ground we cover.
I always start with a first session getting to know a student's goals, meeting them where they're at, and building a plan to get them there.
A big part of how I tutor is helping students shift the way they think about learning itself. Doing well isn't about being naturally smart or gifted, and it isn't about cramming the night before, it's a skill, like any other, built through practice and repetition. I focus on small, consistent habits working through practice questions with spaced retrieval, active recall and slowly building routine so that studying feels manageable instead of overwhelming. I also work on how students approach problems themselves, often it's less about the content and more about learning to look at a question differently, breaking it into small, manageable parts.
I tutor both online and in person, and whether we're working toward a specific exam or building longer-term confidence and habits, my goal is always the same: to help students not only improve their results, but change the way they study so it becomes automatic and enjoyable.
I am based in UQ, QUT or online, please contact me if you have any questions I’m happy to help :)
I’m excited to work with you soon!
