About
I'm a qualified secondary English and Literature teacher with over thirteen years’ teaching experience. I am warm, knowledgeable and supportive and enjoy partnering with students and their families to achieve individual learning goals.
Please note I provide weekly tutoring (online only) and my remaining spots are for students in Years 7-11. I will be opening up my availability for future Year 12s from November 1st 2026.
My teaching experience:
- I have 1800+ hours of English tutoring experience (2013-2017 and 2024-current), in addition to secondary classroom teaching experience of 6 years. This includes teaching Year 12 English and Year 12 Literature.
- I have classroom taught and privately tutored all secondary year levels of English and my Year 12 classes had high medians and/or students routinely achieving 40+.
- I held a Literacy Leading position at a school for two years in 2020-2021, designing and implementing programs to support students in all year levels (7-12) to develop reading and writing skills.
- In 2024 I was a contributor for the VATE Year 12 English exam.
- I have a Master of Teaching (Secondary) from Monash University and I am currently completing a Master of Education. I also hold qualifications from The University of Melbourne and certificates from Cambridge University.
- My offerings are for all students in Melbourne, such as those wishing to achieve a desired study score including 40+, students with learning difficulties and/or students who struggle with English in general and need additional structure and support.
- I have experience working with students with a range of learning difficulties and have experience as a classroom teacher in all-girls, all-boys and co-ed schools, so I am dynamic, well-rounded, and can offer varied teaching and learning strategies for all learners.
- I have tutored and taught students from public, catholic and private schools (including selective entry high schools).
Online tutoring information:
- Online tutoring works just like face-to-face sessions but with added convenience. Students will complete practice writing, receive feedback on their written work in session, have learning content explained to them through supportive verbal discussions, receive worksheets and learning resources to develop their knowledge and skills in and out of sessions, practice reading aloud from texts being studied, and read and analyse written content such as novels and persuasive pieces, with support and scaffolding.
- Students use Google Docs to type their writing live and I can offer live tracked comments, in addition to verbal feedback and discussions.
- Google Meet (like ZOOM) is used for the tutoring session.
- Each student will have a Google Folder with targeted and curriculum-aligned resources which accumulate throughout the year.
- Parents regularly receive updates from me after each session and I can give targeted homework if required to build student skills over time.
- The lessons will be scaffolded well as an experienced teacher is providing them! Qualified teachers do have wider knowledge and specialised skills in education, and I do believe this sets us apart from other tutors. This includes being able to accurately mark practice essays and give appropriate feedback to students.
- I have a current Working With Children/Police Check and VIT registration.
For parents of Year 12 students looking for support with Argument Analysis, I do have video tutorials/products available on my website; if interested please contact me for more information.
