ABOUT
Hi! My name is Kris, and I’m a full-time English tutor specialising in Years 7-9.
My focus is simple: build strong fundamentals early, so students feel confident, capable, and prepared as they move into senior school.
I’ve been trained closely by my wife, Dani, a highly experienced tutor and Baulkham Hills High graduate with an ATAR of 99.70 and a Law degree from the University of Sydney. Dani has over 12 years of full-time tutoring experience (and more than 18 years overall), and over the past three years, she has personally guided me through her proven methods and systems. This close mentorship ensures that the approach I use is built on decades of successful experience and strategies that consistently help students improve.
Before moving into high school tutoring, I worked in early childhood education for over a decade, where I developed a strong understanding of how students learn, build confidence, and engage with challenging material. Since moving to Australia, I’ve spent the past 2+ years tutoring within the NSW system, helping junior high school students strengthen their skills and results.
I hold a university background in English Literature and Sociology, and my focus is simple: build strong foundational skills early, so students feel confident, capable, and well-prepared as they move into senior school. I'm also an aspiring author of science fiction books and I love creative writing in general.

TEACHING STYLE
My teaching style is structured, patient, and highly supportive.
Students in Years 7-9 are often still developing core skills—so rather than rushing ahead, I focus on:
✦ Building clear writing structure (sentence, paragraph, essay)
✦ Strengthening reading comprehension and analysis
✦ Teaching students how to think, not just what to write
✦ Developing confidence and independence
Lessons are always tailored to the student. We begin by identifying what they’re currently learning at school and where they’re struggling, then break concepts down into manageable steps.
Because of my background in early education, I place a strong emphasis on:
✦ Creating a calm, encouraging environment
✦ Explaining concepts in multiple ways until they “click”
✦ Reinforcing progress so students stay motivated
Over time, students not only improve their marks, but also become more engaged and self-assured in their work.

RESULTS
My students consistently show steady and measurable improvement, particularly in:
✦ Improvement by around 5-10% in marks within the year
✦ All students at least a mid B-range in marks after a few years, with the majority in the A-range
✦ Improved confidence overall in both content, class participation and assessments
✦ Many students see gradual mark increases over time, along with stronger foundational skills that set them up for success in Years 10-12.
✦ ✦ ✦
WHO I’M BEST SUITED FOR
I specialise in students who:
✦ Are in Years 7-9
✦ Feel unsure about English or lack confidence
✦ Need help building strong foundational skills
✦ Benefit from a patient, step-by-step approach
For senior students (Years 10-12), a more exam-focused approach is often required—so a different teaching style may be more suitable at that stage.

Reviews
Kris is very patient and helped my daughter understand how to write exam essays better than how she was taught at school. Her essay exam this term was a big improvement from last year. She's happy to go to lessons with him and I hope she continues to improve with his guidance. Thank you Kris!

My son has improved his English a lot thanks to Kris's teaching. He is in Year 8 now and enjoys English more than he used to. His exam marks have been better, he got his first A at the end of Year 7 thanks to Kris.

Character references
Kris is truly one of the gentlest, most patient and most empathetic people I've ever met. From what I've seen, students (particularly young students) respond very well to his approach and are motivated to complete all tasks under his guidance. When he first began tutoring in NSW, I gave him extensive training on the syllabus requirements, as well all of the methods and techniques that I spent 12+ years in the industry honing. In addition, he has closely monitored a lot of my lessons with students over the years. But on top of everything, he brings his own personal style to how he teaches. Combined with his extensive years in early childhood education, Kris is one of the best equipped tutors to help your child navigate the early years of high school.
