Hi, my name is Hamdy. I am an experienced educator with more than 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience across high school, undergraduate and postgraduate education. I hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and have taught engineering students at the University of Sydney for more than 10 years. I also have extensive experience teaching Mathematics to high school students and I am currently working as a high school Mathematics teacher at a highly regarded independent school in Western Sydney. My approach to Mathematics tutoring is based on understanding rather than memorisation. I believe students learn best when they understand why a method works and how to apply it, rather than simply memorising formulas or procedures. I first identify the areas where a student is finding difficulties, then explain the underlying concepts clearly and work through examples and problems step by step. I have taught students with a wide range of abilities and learning needs, from those who need help strengthening their foundations to students looking to challenge themselves and achieve higher results. I adapt my teaching to each student's level, pace and goals, and encourage students to ask questions, think critically and gradually become more confident and independent learners. Over more than two decades, I have helped hundreds of students overcome subjects they initially found challenging, prepare for assessments and examinations, address gaps in their knowledge and develop greater confidence in their abilities. I particularly enjoy seeing the moment when a student who initially feels that Mathematics is too difficult begins to understand the concepts and realises that they are capable of succeeding.
