About

Hello, my name is Aria :) I am a student at the University of Sydney, studying Mechatronic Engineering (Honours) and Science, majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and am a recipient of the Motorola Solutions Foundation Scholarship for Women in Engineering. I also received early entry offers from the University of New South Wales and the University of Technology Sydney. My academic journey through selective education pathways began prior to high school. I successfully sat the Opportunity Class placement test and attended the Balmain Public School Opportunity Class in Years 5 and 6. Later, I sat the selective high school placement test and was successful, receiving offers including an offer to attend James Ruse Agricultural High School, which I ultimately declined in favour of another selective school, Fort Street High School. I then graduated as part of the 2025 cohort of Fort Street High School with an ATAR of 95. These experiences provided me with early and sustained exposure to academically accelerated and competitive learning environments. Having progressed through opportunity class and selective school pathways myself, I have seen firsthand how differently students respond to academic pressure and expectations. This experience is what motivated me to pursue tutoring. My approach to tutoring is centred around one core belief: every student learns differently. Many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because the traditional classroom environment cannot cater to individual learning styles. I strongly believe that students perform best when teaching is tailored to the way they learn as individuals, which is why I offer exclusively one-to-one tutoring. A one-to-one setting allows lessons to be fully adapted to each student’s learning style, pace, and goals, ensuring that gaps in understanding are addressed early and confidence is built steadily. I prioritise clarity, confidence, and strong foundational understanding, while also helping students develop effective study habits that reduce stress and improve long-term academic performance. School can be demanding, particularly for motivated and capable students who place high expectations on themselves. During Years 11 and 12, I was part of my school’s accelerated mathematics program, which came with the added academic pressure of a highly competitive cohort. As part of this program, I completed the HSC Mathematics Advanced course in Year 11, a year earlier than the remainder of my cohort, and achieved a Band 6—the highest possible HSC result—placing me on the Distinguished Achievers List. Having experienced this pressure personally, I aim to provide a supportive, structured, and encouraging learning space where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence in their abilities. In addition to subject-based tutoring, I also offer Opportunity Class (OC) test preparation and selective school test preparation, drawing on my personal experience successfully navigating both pathways. I am familiar with the structure, demands, and expectations of these exams, and I focus on building strong problem-solving skills, exam technique, and confidence under time pressure. I look forward to working with students and supporting them as they work towards their academic goals. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like further information or to discuss lesson arrangements :)
