𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗠𝗲 My first panic attack was inside a mathematics exam. It sounds so stupid, but literal numbers made my breath shallow, my heart pump and my hands shake. I remember looking through all the questions, trying to figure out which ones I could actually do. I tried a half-hearted scribble on a few. Then, I stopped. I didn't spend the rest of the exam solving problems. I spent it calculating exactly how many marks I had already lost. "50% isn't too bad," I lied to myself. I didn’t get 50%. I got below. From years 7 to 9, I honestly didn’t care much about my marks. I was that one kid who went to the library every recess and lunch to play Minecraft (I have too many hours in SkyBlock). When I went home, I hopped on Fortnite (it was a good game back then) without talking to my parents about school. Then, something clicked. I realised it got real. The result? By the time I hit Year 11 at James Ruse, everything changed. I saw my rankings: 1st in Maths Advanced. 12th in Chemistry. 8th in Physics. I’m Linus Guo, and I finished Year 12 with a 99.70 ATAR, scoring 96 in Chemistry and topping the Physics examination at the most competitive school in the state. I know what it feels like to panic.
