Hi there! I'm Aidan, a 4th year Bachelor of Science student at Monash Uni, with an extended major in Mathematics, about to begin my honours year. I completed the IB in 2020 with fairly unremarkable results, as such my tutoring appeal is notably less glamorous than many others. Upon initially commencing my undergraduate studies at UNSW, I quickly built up a tattered record of failed subjects which will no doubt send me right to the bottom of the list of potential tutors, so props if you've even managed to find me. Over the years though, I've slowly reoriented myself upon solid foundations, and I can now look upon a record of distinctions and high distinctions across maths units. Though I understand the safety brought with tutors of 95+ ATARs, I disagree with the direct link often made between academic success of a tutor in a subject and their assumed ability to teach that subject to another. Though my application lacks this appeal of consistent high achievement throughout my schooling, I believe my transcript demonstrates a path of growth and development, one that helped to enrich my appreciation for Mathematics, whilst still grounding me in the reality of the struggles it can offer, and this experience no doubt has propelled my abilities and perspective as a tutor. It's my aim to create an environment stripped of the negative emotions that so often impede progress, one that allows structured and personalised lessons to run without the stress, frustration, and sense of hopelessness that permeates through academic studies. My tutoring experience has ranged from students from k-12, as well as in my own studies where there is an endless source of tutoring opportunity amongst my peers. I'm happy to run sessions at either my or your residence, or at any local libraries of your choice.
