I work as a sports coach for children aged 4-15, play competitive softball and netball, and in my spare time I enjoy playing the piano and guitar. As someone who had to balance elite athletic commitments with strong academics throughout year 11 and 12, I know just how hard it can be when you just can't grasp a concept, and the content doesn't stop or slow down for you. I had to develop a strong work ethic, as well as effective techniques to comprehend content quickly and in a limited amount of time. In high school, I was most passionate about legal studies and mathematics. At the start of my legal studies journey, I really struggled with writing essays, and my marks would reflect that; despite knowing the content fairly well, I often had extremely inconsistent test results. However, I soon discovered the formulaic nature of responses and how to maximise efficiency, both in studying and in the exams themselves. I would love to be able to help students who are struggling as much as I was, and show them that legal studies isn't nearly as daunting as it seems. Additionally, I have extensive notes I kept throughout year 11 and 12 legal studies, with 20+ practice essays and past papers, all of which can be provided to the student for learning purposes. Mathematics was always like second nature to me, but throughout my high school career I would consistently lose marks due to carelessness or indecipherable working out. I learnt that the beauty in maths is rarely about the answer itself, and more about the processes behind it. This realisation and my consistent dedication to mastering the methods of maths culminated in my first ever 100% on a high school maths test - in year 12 Extension 2. Although I ended up pursuing the law route, I would love to share my passion for maths with students who are struggling, and help them understand not just the way to calculate the answer, but the reason why each formula works. *Although certain times and days are listed, contact me to ask; I can work around your schedule!
