About
99.80 ATAR | HSC tutoring | Dux of Meriden Year 11 and 12
Hello! I'm Sophia. I graduated from Meriden School in 2023 and am currently studying Economics and Law at USYD!
High school can be overwhelming, especially HSC, but I promise it's not as scary as it seems! I have 2+ years teaching experience, including for HSC. My lessons are all tailored towards different students' needs and current focuses at school. I break down topics into smaller parts, and provide study schedule and exam preparation tips on top of teaching content. Lessons are all very flexible with the goal of building students' confidence and understanding, and making learning as fun, clear, and accessible as possible :)
📗ECONOMICS - RANK 1 - 94/100 HSC
- Multiple choice exam-style questions, short answer questions and marking guidelines, guided essay structures and planning.
The economics syllabus is enormous, so I focus on concise, specific theory breakdowns, relevant practice questions, and explain how the syllabus dot points commonly appear in exams and link together. This makes economics much more approachable and equips students with exactly what they need to know. I explain how to best prepare for multiple choice, short answer, and essay style questions most efficiently and accurately, ensuring all bases are covered for school exams and the final HSC.
📕ENGLISH ADVANCED - RANK 2 - 95/100 HSC
- Breakdowns of quotes and themes within all texts, top mark sample essays and plans, short answer comprehension questions with marking guidelines.
When studying English, it can be hard to know what themes to focus on or write about, since there can be so many. To build the strongest foundation possible, I deconstruct texts into their main themes and explain which each section, quote, and character falls under, so students clearly understand what they are writing and why. When analysing, I train my students' critical thinking and recognition by pushing past surface level and making nuanced ties to the overarching themes.
I highlight how best to structure a response according to the module it is set for, the differences and focuses of each module, what common exam questions could look like, and life hacks to remember when doing each one. This includes multimodals, speeches, presentations, etc., that an exam might call for.
