Hi! My name is Matthew and I am a private tutor with 8 years of experience. I achieved an ATAR of 97.40 in VCE and was Dux of St Mary's College Windsor.
All students vary in their levels of engagement and ability, and I always endeavour to adapt my tutoring style to each specific student to ensure that they get the most out of our sessions and are able to achieve their full potential. I am extremely patient and approachable, and am dedicated to not only helping each student improve their marks, but also motivating them to be more engaged with their studies and to build confidence in their abilities. At school, lessons are generally tailored towards teaching twenty or so students at once, so private tutoring can provide a great benefit for students as I am able to explain concepts in more intricate detail, answer any questions the student has, tailor sessions to focus more on areas the student particularly struggles with, prepare exam-style questions for the student, and provide constant, in-depth feedback. As High School can be a very daunting experience, I also provide support with managing work load, coping with stress, and advice for being prepared and organised when dealing with a busy schedule.
I was Vice College Captain at St Mary's College and School Captain of St Kilda Primary - roles I was entrusted with due to my effective communication skills, approachability, and adaptability - all skills which I consistently implement when tutoring.
I have completed Bachelor of Science and Master of Biomedical Science degrees at the University of Melbourne and am currently continuing to work as a tutor while organising a deal to have a book published.
Being a tutor for the past 7 years has been thoroughly rewarding and has included working with students of all backgrounds and abilities, including those with learning difficulties and related conditions.
I offer in-person tutoring at your home for $50/hr or online tutoring over Zoom for $40/hr
