About
I started tutoring because I wanted to help students the way I wish someone had helped me. When I was in high school, especially in Year 11 and 12, maths felt overwhelming at times. It wasn’t that I didn’t care—I just didn’t always get it right away. What made the difference for me were the teachers and peers who explained things simply, without making me feel dumb. That stuck with me, and now that I’ve graduated, I actually enjoy showing others that maths isn’t as bad as it seems.
For me, tutoring is just a natural extension of what I was doing in school anyway—helping classmates, talking through problems, and figuring things out together. Now I do the same thing, but with a bit more structure. I teach in a way that feels like a conversation, not a lecture. I ask questions, I listen, and I adjust the way I explain things based on what the student needs.
A lot of tutors are super smart, but they forget what it’s like to not understand something. I think that’s where I’m different. I still remember what it’s like to feel stuck, and that helps me break things down in a way that actually makes sense.
More than anything, I want my students to feel confident. Not just for their next test, but long-term. If I can help someone go from hating maths to saying “ohhh, that makes sense now,” then I’ve done my job.
