Hi! I’m Haelyn, a fourth-year student studying a double degree in Biomedicine and Mechanical Engineering at Monash University. I am a maths tutor with experience teaching general high-school mathematics, IB AA SL & HL mathematics, and Monash College mathematics. Mathematics has consistently been my best and most confident subject. Throughout school, I achieved academic excellence and placed in multiple competitions, including earning olympiad medals. I’ve always loved learning maths, but what I enjoy even more now is teaching it, sharing the ways I think about problems, the tips that helped me, and the little shortcuts I learned over the years. How I teach: My teaching style is calm, structured, and very student-focused. I don’t just teach how to get the answer. I want students to understand why we do each step and how to use those methods in different styles of questions. I also don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every student learns differently, so I adjust how I explain things, how fast we go, and the type of practice we do. My goal is to help students feel confident, curious, and genuinely interested in maths, not just perform better in exams, but build understanding that lasts.
