About

Hello! I'm Dev Punjabi and I am a 2024 Sydney Boys graduate who achieved a 99.5+ ATAR and am studying a Bachelor of Economics / Bachelor of Laws at USYD. As a recent graduate I am extremely up to date with the syllabus, teachers' changing expectations, exam technicalities (timing, preparation paths) and student strategies. In high school I was fortunate enough, at the true beginning of my senior years, to learn something invaluable which we overlook day and day: the forefront of your exams and studying is not marks. It isn't remarkable numbers or a pedestal rank. It is simply the joy of education and learning. The passion ๐Ÿš˜. I find students who are self-driven experience the strongest levels of academic growth. I think we forget this too often as students. Too often we are enveloped in a race to run ahead and fashion grand marks, ranks and a nice ATAR. So why me? I not only strive to teach you what differentiates students, the way markers think and how you can approach your exams; but help cultivate a mentality: to simply, and effortlessly, enjoy learning for what it is whilst also being able to achieve your goals in school. Having experienced several hurdles myself prior, I fully understand the day to day challenges and academic tribulations students experience. After all, I'd be surprised if you have focus solely into studying and that only. You can still enjoy sports, and other commitments. In year 12, I studied, had sport 4x/wk, wrote a book and worked on prefect projects. The point is to have a system in which you don't let yourself be consumed by your studies. I also tutor with Ethical Education - an emphasis that I'm committed to mentoring, not just tutoring you. Improvement is the goal. The steps to it are: โœ Lessons focus on the fundamentals and PURE basics ๐Ÿ’ก Consolidate theory and fill out gaps in learning (e.g. exceptions) ๐Ÿ“Š Practice & practice with weekly review and feedback every lesson I also offer various mediums of resources and homework, both succinct with efficient review, to help deepen my students' conceptual understanding. ๐Ÿšฉ Troublemaking questions are always flagged for persistent review each lesson moving forward. In saying so, I'd like to be a mentor. I've had many discussions with students outside the subject, whether it be about career decisions or other concerns. I know that high school can have uncomfortable bumps on its road, but I'm here to create a meaningful relationship to help your journey because I understand the motive to perform. And the shortfalls in the risk. I do not have any cancellation fee and the first lesson is free to see if I am a suitable match for you. I'm here to help facilitate your journey through high school, as I learnt through so many who helped mould mine. Online Lessons ๐Ÿ“š I will conduct lessons through live screen sharing of Notability or a PDF of the notes/content for students to follow along easy annotations and learning. - ๐Ÿงช For Chemistry - students will have a special set of notes with a specific breakdown within each module. - ๐Ÿ“– For English - students will examine specific sections of texts, criticise various analysis of texts and rinse and repeat essay writing and feedback. AND a special set of notes made by myself. - Texts: Y11: Mary Oliver (all poems), Tracks (film), Othello Y12:1984, KHIV IV P1, Keats/Campion, Imaginative/Discursive Writing Other texts: Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, The Great Gatsby, The Machine Stops NOTE: Open to and have worked with other texts. Message me if interested. - ๐Ÿ“ˆ For Economics/Business Studies - students will go by dot point specific powerpoints and notes, as the most important thing regarding social sciences is to be best friends with the syllabus. Emphasis on questions. I have hundreds of FREE papers, resources, etc all ready and happy to share! For those who also like the numbers: โœ… English Adv 93 โœ… Math Ext 1 95, Ext 2 94 โœ… Chemistry 95 โœ… Economics 96 โœ… I accelerated Business Studies (96) and Math Adv. (97) in Y11. Please feel free to contact me anytime, to discuss plans, availabilities or if you have any questions. I am happy to provide a WWCC. I would like to reiterate. My personal goal is to gauge you as a student and calibrate your mindset to your goals . Your approach to learning to your ambition. Trust me when I say that marks and numbers on the page are but a supplement to your education. There is much more than what you do with a pen.
