Hey, it’s Pear! I'm a second-year Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Finance student currently studying at UWA. I've had the opportunity of tutoring multiple students ranging from Year 5 to Year 12, helping them build their confidence in maths, physics, french and english. I believe the key to successful education is deep, well-grounded understanding of concepts, enabling students to apply these to all types of scenarios. This is what I will strive to do as a tutor: break down topics and ideas into simpler terms to cater for a stronger foundation in each topic. I will closely analyse your strengths and weaknesses, and use this to guide your lessons appropriately. I will provide to you a variety of notes, worksheets, practice questions, past tests and exams for you to build your confidence and have exposure to a range of different questions. These worksheets will be customised to accommodate for students’ individual needs. Specific to French, I will provide consistent oral practice, which forms an essential part of the course. Maintaining a balance in school can be difficult, particularly during Years 11 and 12. Many students struggle to manage their time, whether keeping up with their studies, or finding the time to do sports and other extracurricular activities. Pear tutored me in French ATAR for around a term until I decided to drop the subject due to having 6 subjects. She helped me improve in the language significantly while making it enjoyable. She provided multiple resources like practice tests and websites to use. She also was open to marking any practice work, even out of our tutoring time. One thing that she really helped me with was my pronunciation. If I was reading a passage and pronounced some words wrong, she would note them down and assist me in saying them properly. I also could ask for assistance on a specific topic. While I was doing French ATAR I really struggled with grammar, so Pear set up a google doc with exercises to help me revise and remember them better.
