Year 11 Advanced Student's School Rankings: Top 5th out of 46 course candidates​ ... 🌗 **How I Teach** My goal: help students appreciate maths and get their best academic results along the way. I use the Polya pedagogy: a socratic style of question-and-discussion that forces students to really think, and therefore genuinely understand the material. Unlike the standard way of teaching, I introduce the question/problem before I introduce its underlying theory in the same fashion as the AOPS founder and pedagogue, Richard Ruscyzk, does - not the other way around; the purpose of this is to frame mathematics as a process of discovery, not rote-learning. The result is that the student is more engaged, and is therefore more willing to independently discipline themselves in exam preparation, and thus will get better marks. I was fortunate enough to have a teacher who taught that to me, and I hope to pass it on.
