I am an experienced secondary teacher and educational leader with a strong understanding of the Western Australian ATAR and General curricula, specialising in Politics and Law. I am passionate about helping students develop their knowledge, confidence and skills so they can approach their studies with greater independence and achieve their personal best. As a mother of six children with diverse abilities, strengths and learning needs, I also understand education from a parent’s perspective. Supporting my own children throughout high school has reinforced the importance of patience, encouragement and adapting learning strategies to suit the individual. One of my children achieved an ATAR of 99 and received a $25,000 scholarship to Curtin University. Equally, I value the progress and achievements of students whose success follows a different pathway. My tutoring combines subject expertise with a practical, personalised approach. In ATAR Politics and Law, I help students make sense of government structures, constitutional powers, legal principles, accountability and human rights. By connecting these concepts to relevant cases and contemporary political and legal issues, I support students to move beyond memorising information towards understanding how to apply it. I place particular emphasis on the skills needed for assessment and examination success, including interpreting questions, analysing sources, structuring short answers and developing well-supported extended responses. Students learn how to select relevant evidence, build a clear argument and make reasoned judgements - especially when responding to questions that require analysis or evaluation. Whether a student is aiming for a high ATAR, finding particular concepts challenging or seeking more structure in their revision, I tailor my support to their goals and starting point. My aim is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learn from feedback and build the confidence to take ownership of their learning.
