Hello, My name is Gayatri and I am currently doing my Masters in Chemistry at the University of Melbourne. I have always been passionate about Chemistry and Biology owing to which I am currently doing research in biochemistry. I absolutely enjoy working in labs and conducting practicals so I am working as a lab demonstrator for 1st year undergraduates at the School of Chemistry at University of Melbourne. I believe that visual memories are stronger than reading or writing so I try to use presentations and videos to explain complex chemical concepts. However, in biology diagrams help in understanding intricate structures of organisms so I try to use those to assist the teaching process. These innovative tools make the process of learning fun. Additionally, I am friendly with the students as students should not be intimidated by the tutors instead they should be able to approach the tutors with any doubts or queries that they might have. I can help the kids to fall in love with the subject instead of just blindly memorizing concepts. I also have great communication skills so I can help the kids in confident presentation, efficient communication, all round development, leadership and networking.

Achievements

  • I have won the best student award after finishing my undergraduation. I also have preliminary proficiency in French and German. I have an experience in teaching for 2 years now.

Interests

  • I enjoy doing social work so I have volunteered for the Robin Hood army and the Innerwheel Club in the past. I also like having a balanced routine instead of only academics so I practice CrossFit, Yoga to stay physically fit and to relieve mental stress.
