Hi! My name is Mikaela and I'm currently in my third year at UNSW studying a double degree of a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and a Bachelor of Science. I attended high school overseas at the International School of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo, Japan, where I lived for nearly seven years!! Here, I studied under the Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum and achieved the following scores: AP Physics 1 (5) AP Physics 2 (5) AP Biology (5) AP Calculus AB (5) AP Calculus BC (5) AP Psychology (5) AP Japanese (5) AP English Literature and Composition (5) AP English Language and Composition (4) I also took the SAT and scored a 1490. Combined, this gave me an ATAR of 99.25. Though I studied overseas, I am familiar with the IB and HSC curriculum and able to tutor under these as well, working extensively with the HSC curriculum as an SLSO (student learning support officer) at a local secondary school. I am an experienced tutor with four years of experience, specialising in English with non-native speakers ranging from primary to secondary school. I am passionate about my studies and would love to share any tips or advice that can help! Studying a Bachelor of Education I feel like I am growing in my teaching method and able to explain succinctly and accurately, whilst still ensuring quality understanding. In my spare time, you'll catch me out playing any kinds of sports (I was a member of the soccer, basketball and tennis team in high school!), out exploring, or reading with my cat!
