At the end of Year 9, I really lacked direction.
I considered leaving at the end of Year 10, getting a trade somewhere, and following the path a lot of kids I grew up with. You weren’t often celebrated for being a nerd, and any ATAR over 90 was considered an anomaly in my community (Bathurst).
55% in the Year 9 English exam was a bummer – then again, I didn’t read any of the prescribed books! Science wasn’t much better; I wasn't bothered to revise, and never deeply understood the content. My strategy was just to cram random facts in my brain in the final days and go into the exam with my fingers (and toes) crossed.
I was often told that I was ‘naturally smart’, but wasted this potential by cruising through life and not applying myself. However, in Year 10, something in me clicked.
There was one subject I always loved - Maths. What about learning maths made it effective, seamless, and actually enjoyable? Aha! It was my ‘attitude’, ‘appreciation’, and ‘systems’. I’ll go into those soon. But before that, I should introduce myself.
𝗛𝗶, 𝗜’𝗺 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗸. I graduated from Scots All Saints College (Bathurst) in 2021, currently studying Mechatronics Engineering at USYD. I have gone from a directionless 15-year-old to an accomplished student who is hungry to learn.
My teaching style is based heavily around my learning philosophy. I am here to help you can make the same transformation as I did, and get that untapped potential out of you!

Amongst the state rankers in maths and science I’m working with, excellent results have been achieved:
▒▒▒▒ 𝗥𝗲𝗶 𝗟𝗼𝗵, 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗼𝘆𝘀 2023, moved from 79% to 94% in Chemistry
▒▒▒▒ 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗮 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗻, 𝗦𝘆𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿 2023, got 99.95 and 1st in Chemistry.
▒▒▒▒ 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝗷𝗶, 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, was Chemistry State Rank, 99 in Chemistry.
▒▒▒▒ 𝗞𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝘂, 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻 2021, moved from a 56% in Chem Trials to 91 in HSC.
▒▒▒▒ 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗯, 𝗦𝘆𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿 2021, moved from 64% in Year 11 Phys to 97 in HSC.
▒▒▒▒ 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗺𝗶 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵𝗲, 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝘂𝘀𝗲 2021, got 97 in Physics with 99.75 ATAR.

𝐴𝑡𝑡𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑒: adopting a ‘growth’ mindset; falling in love with the process of wrestling with a new concept; going from 0 knowledge on a topic to completely mastering it. I treated maths like a video game. When I sat down for a session, I was aiming to just level up that little bit more than yesterday; to gain a few more equations for my toolbox, and applying them to increasingly foreign questions.
𝐴𝑝𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛: maths is beautiful to me. It's a language that describes the world around us in all its complexity. Studying maths was so pleasant because I could see its direct usefulness to society. I set out to try see the utility from my other subjects, making studying them fun too!
𝑆𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚𝑠: learning maths was formulaic to me. You followed reliable processes to brew a mumbling-jumbling mess of a question into a neat and ordered final solution. I knew I could create a ‘formula’ – a predictable recipe for my other subjects, to make them easier to tackle.
▒▒▒▒ 𝟭-𝟭 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼. In class, we go through the content to get you ahead. But you can ask me questions any time! Even between classes!
▒▒▒▒ 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Doing practice questions is the fastest way to improve. But they need to be hard. We've scoured through thousands of exams to distill the hardest questions as homework. This made Rei Loh, James Ruse, more confident and accurate in exams, which brought him up from 79% to 94% in Chemistry.

I offer group (around 5-10) private tutoring.
My classes are small but I still attend to individual needs. In class we go through the content that everyone needs - but after class, I'll be there to address your specific questions and needs. You'll also be able to ask me any questions between classes too, via text/email/phone. I'll spend an hour with you if needed to help you understand something.
▒▒▒▒ $47/hr for Year 11
Why not give it a try? First lesson is only charged if you continue - free otherwise. It's risk free.

💬 "𝗡𝗼, 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽/𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱."
Yes, you're right! I've had to sit through terrible, useless online/group lessons too! But is it the setting - or the tutor, causing it to be bad?
Often students do get lost in group lessons. This happens when the tutor doesn’t care.
• I ask every student questions during class – so they pay attention.
• I monitor every student to see if they’re falling behind.
• I help out 1-1, afterclass, through the week. I'll spend an hour with you if needed!
If you 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 need a 1-1, or face to face setting, then you should hire someone else. But, is the setting more important to you, than your child getting an expert?
There’s a lot of tutors out there. But how many of them have topped NSW? Not all of them know statistical analysis and vectors like I do. Or how to explain it to get the "Aha!" moment. Or why students lose marks. Or how to fix it. And that means they won't produce results, like helping Kirsten Chu, 2022, move from 56% to 91%.
💬 "𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀?"
Our group is run differently to most tutors. I am willing to spend 1-1 time with you. If you have questions – you can ask me 1-1 after class! And throughout the week! I’ll spend an hour with you if you need it.
