I received my ranks for Maths Extension 1 and 2, coming 2nd and 3rd in Sydney Boys respectively. Then someone came up to me, and asked me:
โHey werenโt you really dumb?โ
So was I really dumb?
I only just got into Sydney Boys HS- I was a reserve number 34.
In Year 9, I was 198th/210 students in the cohort.
Most of my time was wasted playing video games, watching youtube and calling friends. My homework was rotting with the few brain cells left. I never excelled. In any subjects. By the end of Year 8, science had become a subject I despised, and maths became an atrocity.
Ah ha. This must be the part where I ditch video games, staying up till 12 grinding maths and science. No. I still played games; even during the HSC. My sleep schedule had never changed - consistently 11pm-7am.
So what changed?
My science teacher told me that I would become nothing. People who slack in class, always slack in class. They don't change, they can't change. I wanted to show her we can get what we want, if we fix our attitude.
By changing my attitude towards my studies, my time management and achieving work life balance, I surpassed my own expectations.
I finished the HSC with a 99.85, getting a state rank mark for chemistry (97), and a state rank for Mathematics Extension 1. I wouldโve been happy with my ATAR estimate of 97.00 in Year 10, but Iโm not complaining.

Amongst the state rankers in maths and science Iโm working with at Tutorgum, excellent results have been achieved:
2020, came from 3rd class Maths, 72% to 99 in 3U and 98 in 4U, with a 99.65
2022, moved from 64% in Year 11 3U to 89 in HSC Extension 1.

So you know my cool ass story - why am I here?
To save you from bad teachers. My success came from being able to understand difficult concepts well. Getting good teachers who can explain them well at school is up to RNG (luck). But why have that RNG, when you can guarantee a teacher who will not only explain the concepts well, but also can give individual attention to give you the help you need?
Would I be a good tutor for you though? There are always different teaching styles - and I'm not necessarily the tutor for you. So I want to help you make the best decision.
Maths is often explained terribly. I explain maths intuitively and visually - giving you those Aha moments. It makes maths make sense - meaning less memorisation, more confidence and better marks! It helped Peter Papanikolaou, Inaburra 2022, moved from 64 in Year 11 3U to 89 in HSC Extension 1
In class, we go through the content to get you ahead. Afterclass, I'll help you 1-1 with questions, school work, or to review your assessment. No more getting stuck for hours.
Practice questions show you what concept to apply and where. This made Eric Vuong, James Ruse, more confident and accurate in exams, which brought him up from 72% to 99% in Extension 1 Maths. Every week, you'll get exam styled questions as homework.
Class is not a lecture. It's a conversation. I love socialising with people and it's what keeps my students engaged and excited. Ultimately helping them learn more and getting ahead of school.
I enjoy banter and humour - keeping class fun!

I offer group (around 5-10) private tutoring.
My classes are small but I still attend to individual needs. In class we go through the content that everyone needs - but after class, I'll be there to address your specific questions and needs. You'll also be able to ask me any questions between classes too, via text/email/phone. I'll spend an hour with you if needed to help you understand something.

Yes, you're correct! I've had to sit through terrible, useless online/group lessons too! But is it the setting - or the tutor, causing it to be bad?
Often students do get lost in group lessons. This happens when the tutor doesnโt care.
I ask every student questions during class โ so they pay attention.
I monitor every student to see if theyโre falling behind.
I help out 1-1, afterclass, through the week. I'll spend an hour with you if needed!
If you ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ง๐ช๐ฏ๐ช๐ต๐ฆ๐ญ๐บ need a 1-1, or face to face setting, then you should hire someone else. But, is the setting more important to you, than your child getting an expert?
Thereโs a lot of tutors out there. But how many of them have topped NSW? Not all of them know statistical analysis and vectors like I do. Or how to explain it to get the "Aha!" moment. Or why students lose marks. Or how to fix it. And that means they won't produce results, like helping Kirsten Chu, 2022, move from 56% to 91%.
Our group is run differently to most tutors. I am willing to spend 1-1 time with you. If you have questions โ you can ask me 1-1 after class! And throughout the week! Iโll spend an hour with you if you need it.
