99.85 ATAR, 50 biology, 50 English + Premier's award. Medical Student at Griffith University. Biology Specialist. Hi all! My name is Deshitha and I am currently a 2nd year medical student at Griffith University who recently graduated from Haileybury college in 2023 with a 99.85 ATAR, raw 50 in biology, and a premier's award in English. Being a recent graduate, but also having extensive tutoring experience, I know what it's like to be in the shoes of a year 12 student, and that way I can make lessons as engaging and interactive as possible. I'll be able to share my experiences, study techniques and mindsets such as relationship seeking, mind mapping and inquiry based learning techniques that allowed me to achieve academic and extra-curricular success in year 12 and beyond. My main goal with biology and science tutoring is to transcend the idea that it's all about memorisation and instead taking a holistic and methodical way to both achieving top marks and being a curious learner. From experience tutoring students across various abilities and background knowledge, I have now curated my own series of extensive teaching worksheets that contain notes, diagrams, exam and sac tips, and questions ranging from consolidating to 45+ extension questions. I strongly believe in the value of 1:1 teaching, that allows me to act like a 'coach', rather than another teacher who just reads off a screen and expects you to keep up. My lessons consist of me asking you questions, gradually building upon your prior knowledge to best integrate new concepts and making sure that YOU understand in your OWN way. My students also know that they can shoot me questions any time and any day of the week on text, and that I will always respond timely.
