Hey! Iโm Samuel and I graduated from James Ruse in 2022. Iโm currently studying medicine at UNSW. Here are some of my results from high school:
๐ 99.80 ATAR (HSC All-Rounder)
๐ 99 in 3U Maths
๐ 98 in 4U Maths
Iโm currently offering tutoring for:
๐ Junior High School (7-10) Mathematics
๐ Preliminary Maths - 2U, 3U and 4U
๐ HSC Maths - 2U, 3U and 4U (Extension 2)
๐ Medical Interview Preparation
I have extensive experience working with students of varying abilities and ages, having helped students from various backgrounds and high schools excel in Mathematics. My primary focus is on high school and HSC Maths, regardless of level and previous academic experience.
My teaching:
โEXAM TECHNIQUE
One key aspect I emphasise in my tutoring sessions is exam technique. While understanding the course content is crucial, what has an equal amount of bearing on results is familiarity with exam structure and the most common types of questions. By focusing on exam-oriented problem solving, I aim to help you develop the skills, and most importantly the confidence needed to excel in exam settings.
โA BALANCED APPROACH
Rather than spending an excessive amount of time on content review, I believe that the most effective method of studying is to balance content with hands-on application and exposure to different questions. This approach of combining understanding with targeted repetition and practice allows you to become comfortable with various question formats. Students will have access to the resources that helped me succeed in HSC Mathematics, including various worksheets and tailored questions to target weaknesses and consolidate mathematical concepts.
โPROCESS
I believe that success in high school and HSC Mathematics comes down to the process of studying, rather than natural talent. I focus on allowing students to develop efficient ways of digesting content, apply this to a targeted period of repetition, and most importantly form a unique way of approaching new content. What often happens in high school Mathematics is that students with the right resources and advice outperform students that may be more naturally talented. This comes down to the process.
