I was offered the BAcc UTS Scholarship but after much deliberation, have decided to attend USYD to be a Speech Therapist, with view to one day, run my own business. I am passionate about helping students achieve their best and have extensive experience coaching club soccer, being a debating coach and a reading tutor. I am a fitness fanatic and train daily. I believe hard work pays off but value mind-body balance and a well rounded approach to life. I am proficient in Maths Advanced, Business Studies, Legal Studies and PDHPE. I came first at my selective school in Legal and PDHPE, third in Maths Adv and Business. I understand the intricacies of how to approach the HSC and the strategies for maintaining high ranks internally. I have a deep understanding of how scaling and ranking work and how high ATARs can be achieved irrespective of subject choices - good preparation ahead of exams is the key to HSC success and the approach to good exam preparation is applicable across all subjects. Sometimes students end up with a dud teacher or need additional support to understand a concept or would like to get ahead of their peers - this is where tutoring can be helpful. Schools do not teach students 'how to learn' and part of what we will cover together is study skills (time management, organisational skills, how to prioritise tasks) and effective note-taking strategies. I am a highly enthusiastic, charismatic and energetic person and which is conveyed in my teaching style. The HSC and earlier years of school can be a stressful marathon and I understand how energy levels fluctuate over time and I bring my soccer training mentality to approaching effort and preparation. Lessons will take a three-pronged approach and will include (i) understanding content, (ii) creating summary notes ahead of class and (iii) prepping for exam-style questions from the beginning. I have access to extensive resources but believe learning is most effective when students personalise their notes in line with their own learning style. Tutoring with me will involve setting short term, intermediate and long term goals. We will monitor progress against these goals and modify what requires improvement in your learning approach.
