I’m Sammy. I graduated in 2023 with a 99.85 ATAR, ranking first in Specialist Mathematics, and Maths Methods throughout years 10, 11 and 12. - I’ve developed a system that I started applying in year 8, allowing me to complete Methods in year 10 with a perfect study score of 50 and the Premier's award, alongside getting a study score of 46 in Specialists math in year 12. - This year I’ve tutored 13 students, and during my Year 12(2023), I mentored primary school students in math. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a strong passion for building students’ capacity to learn and helping them grow alongside their results. - I’m currently studying Law/Commerce at Monash University. My Approach to Tutoring - No matter your child’s starting point, I begin each topic at a level where they feel confident, progressively building them up. This approach creates an exciting sense of “levelling up” that keeps them motivated and eager to excel. I also ensure that every new concept naturally connects to what they already know, making learning feel easy, organic, and never overwhelming. - Unlike the traditional approach of 'talking at' students, I emphasise active learning, working closely with each student to deepen their understanding of their own thought processes and build strong problem-solving skills. - This approach is especially effective at eliminating those frustrating 'silly' mistakes. I guide students to recognise their mistakes, understand why they happen, and create strategies to prevent them. - To support this, each student receives a personalised online template to log mistakes, track progress, and write down any questions- building a bound reference they can rely on throughout the year and into their final exam.
