Tutoring near Ainslie, Canberra, ACT

About

Hi, my name is Max and I'm starting a Bachelor of Philosophy - Science, this year at ANU. I am offering one-on-one tutoring for students from year 7 and 12 on any math topic, including but not limited to the high school syllabus as well as content pertaining to maths competitions, olympiads or other extension activities. I am passionate about maths and I carry this enthusiasm into my teaching. Often in high school, students are taught to memorise how to solve certain types of problems without discussing the underlying reasoning. Drawing on an extensive experience with mathematical thinking from math olympiads and other studies, my aim is to instead equip students with a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts that will help them feel confident with difficult topics, solve novel problems and learn independently. I also believe in addressing student's needs on an individual basis, and as such I will typically create custom resources to best progress their learning with consideration given to any relevant subject syllabus.
