My name is Vanessa Chen and I am a 2022 James Ruse Agricultural High School graduate.
I achieved Band 6s (over 90) in English Advanced, English Extension I and Mathematics Advanced for my HSC. I am passionate about helping high school students improve and achieve their best in English and Mathematics. I greatly benefitted from having a private tutor for English who gave me personalised assistance and I hope to be the same mentor/coach/friend for you.
I am also an experienced tutor who has successfully navigated the Opportunity Class (OC) and Selective School tests. I attended Ryde Public School for OC and gained admission to Baulkham Hills High School for Selective before transferring to James Ruse Agricultural High School. Additionally, I received a 100% all-rounder scholarship to MLC School in Year 6. Whether you are preparing for OC or Selective or aiming for private school scholarships, I can provide the support and strategies needed to help you achieve success.
My tutoring style focuses on mainly homework help and going through specific topics that you may need more support in to ensure that the lessons are as specific to you as possible and will benefit you the most.

For Primary School students:

- I have extensive experience teaching all sections within the OC Test (Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills) and within the Selective Test (Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, Writing).

📚 Class Structure
- 1-2 hour lessons
- Every student is unique, and so are my classes. I tailor each session to meet the individual needs and learning style of the student
- Lessons will focus on the topics the student needs assistance with and any assignments or exam preparation that they may wish to prioritise
- Flexibility to facilitate extra classes during peak exam season
- Feedback throughout the week for Year 11 and 12 students
- Happy to discuss with student/parents for 10 minutes after every lesson to reflect on progress and areas for improvement
- Easy communication throughout the week via email or mobile to answer any questions and give feedback

Y4-6: $60/hr
Y7-10: $70/hr
