99.70 ATAR | 97 Physics | 97 Maths EXT 1 | 94 Maths EXT 2 | Currently studying Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Commerce at The University of Sydney Hi I'm Tom! Unlike most people I actually had a successful academic comeback in year 12. Having never previously ranked in the top 10 at Shore, with a predicted ATAR just scraping 98 after mid-years to eventually receiving an ATAR of 99.70 whilst deeply engaging in co-curriculars such as Rowing at a national level, Cadets and Debating. I attribute this largely to developing an efficient study routine, prioritising a rich understanding of concepts over rote learning and identifying common question types, which ultimately led to me getting ahead of my peers despite having a busier schedule. My style of tutoring will largely focus on developing the students critical thinking through detailed explanations of concepts, reviewing the logic behind the students working out and going through hand-picked questions together which reveal core insights into the subject matter. Ultimately, my goal is to equip students with the necessary skillset and confidence to excel academically, helping them develop the intellectual autonomy required to succeed in exam situations (no one else can sit your HSC for you!). I hope to be able to lead those students who are in a similar position to where I was, not where they want to be academically but passionate about learning and willing to put in the work to attain a result they are proud of.
