🌟 99.70 ATAR 🌟 2023 ENGLISH DUX AT JRAHS 🌟 3RD English Advanced + 2ND Extension 1 English in James Ruse 🌟 96/100 HSC English Advanced 🌟 49/50 Extension 1 English 📚 3260 UCAT | 98th Percentile 📚 Currently offering Private English Tutoring 📚 WSU Med Student Hi! My name is Jennifer - I am a 2023 James Ruse Agricultural High School Graduate and it is my passion to help you unlock your hidden potential for English! I am also a third year student studying medicine at WSU as a high school leaver, so I am always happy to share my insights into university! I am currently only offering online lessons at the moment - these will be conducted over Microsoft Teams and Google Classroom. I highly recommend small group tutoring, as it allows for a shared group insight into improving a student's work, as well as fostering a sense of accountability. I have facilitated online study groups in the past, particularly when I was in Year 12 myself, and am more than happy to continue doing so for my current students. I am also happy to host UCAT and Medicine Interview lessons; please inquire for more details! 👩‍🏫 WORK EXPERIENCE 👩‍🏫 As a current tutor at a leading english college in Sydney, I have assisted and taught large classes of Y12 James Ruse, Normanhurst, NSB and NSG students, alongside personalised one-on-one lessons where I specialise in teaching Y11 and Y12 Ruse students. I have also taught students from a range of selective and public schools, providing me nuanced insights into the complexities of English across various schools. This allows me to provide my students with a deeper understanding of marking rubrics and what schools want from their essays. My Y12 students (2024, 2025) have largely all received high Band 6 English results (>90%) ✅ EDUCATION ✅ 🏆 ATAR: 99.70 (All Rounder) 🏆 3260 UCAT (98th Percentile) 🏅 James Ruse Dux of English Advanced 2023 🥉 English Advanced: 96/100 (Internally Ranked 3/158) with an HSC External Mark of 95/100 🥈 Extension English: 49/50 (Internally Ranked 2/46) with an HSC External Mark of 49/50 In 2023, I received FULL MARKS for all formative tasks in BOTH English Advanced and English Extension. Recommended Length: Privates (1.5-2hrs) and Group Lessons (2 hrs) ✅ Individualised Growth Plans for Students. I believe that students must focus on reflecting upon their HSC goals and where they want to be in their cohort in order to come to a personal conclusion into the steps students must undertake to improve their marks in English. It is my role to provide mentorship and advice for students so they can set up their own goals which I closely follow to ensure that all their targets are hit. ✅ Unlimited and Conceptually Detailed Essay Feedback provided throughout the week. True growth in English can only occur through a deep conceptual focus on the HSC texts studied, and a strong foundation in the skills required for analysis, essay writing and creative writing. That's why I always provide incredibly in depth feedback that focuses on conceptual flaws and writing issues within a students' work. If you plan on contacting me, please feel free to ask me about my feedback and I will be more than happy to show you past essay documents with my feedback and comments. I take, on average, around one to two hours to provide feedback on one essay, which shows my detail oriented take to providing you, the most in depth feedback possible for student improvement. ✅ In Depth and Personalised Study Materials Even though I have finished studying the HSC, I am always updating my knowledge and analysis on the prescribed texts studied. That is why I strive to form personalised study materials for students in order for them to learn their texts on a conceptual basis so that it is easier to explore and unpack the ideas associated with a stream. Moreover, these study materials help you to foster strong fundamental skills in analysing texts by blending key observations of techniques unique to text and form, with a strong contextual background of the composer. This is similarly brought over to Module C, which is focussed on creative writing and is what students tend to struggle with the most. As a result, I foster a deeper engagement of the skills needed to read to improve your writing, and an understanding of how to effectively and poignantly express conceptual ideas and insights in your creative writing. Many of these skills must be fostered by the student beyond the classroom, which is why I regularly set homework and communicate via email and phone with students to ensure that they are taking the steps needed to accomplish their HSC goals. ✏️ Year 11 - Senior English ✏️ $60/hr - Group Lessons (2 or more students) $90/hr - Private 1 on 1 lessons 📒 Fostering Fundamental Skills in English Year 11 is ultimately a trial run of what the HSC is like in terms of a student's study habits, goals and the mechanisms they undertake to continuously improve their learning. As such, I believe that it is at this stage in a student's high school career where they must learn the fundamental basis of the HSC English syllabus and what it entails. What I focus on here is for students to learn how to research relevant concepts in a composer's context in relation to their text, and to use that information to identify the key techniques unique to their form and conceptual insights in order to form their own effective analysis of their texts. Even though I do provide analysis and teach personal materials, I still believe it is important that students engage with their own learning for three key reasons: 1. Students are able to digest and tackle harder texts with ease, freeing up their capacity to focus on other subjects. This is particularly important in Year 12, where the burden of studying other subjects begins to build up even further. 2. Students are able to write directed and focussed arguments in their essays because they truly understand and resonate with the concepts explored in their texts. You cannot fool your teachers and markers with years of experience into thinking that you know the text without actually understanding it! 3. Students learn how to answer different types of essay questions with ease, and can manipulate their essays to form nuanced arguments that thread throughout their writing. 🍎 Junior High School (Year 7-10) 🍎 $50/hr - (2 or more students) $70/hr - Private 1 on 1 lesson 🍎 Individualised for personal growth, moulded to the student's school syllabus and learning outcomes. This is also key in fostering fundamental skills in both creative and essay writing for senior years. Many of the services discussed under the Senior Year's lesson plans are implemented here as well for a foundational building of important literary skills that are more difficult to foster as students enter senior years.
