I'm Yufan a recent graduate of the 2023 North Sydney Boys cohort which managed to become the top-ranked school in NSW. I am offering tutoring for maths primarily for year 11-12 students undertaking the Mathematics extension 1, 2 or Advanced courses and are seeking to drastically improve their performances in school exams and the final HSC exam. In years 9-10 I was below average for maths and truly believed it was hopeless as I was failing exams despite putting in a ton of effort. When year 11 came around, I realised I needed to change what I was doing, instead of only studying for generic textbook questions I began to expose myself to harder more challenging problems and changed the way I approached maths, suddenly going from failing maths in year 10 to ranking 13th in year 11 and making it into 4U as I had wished. However, that was not the end of the journey. I continued to push myself further and further looking far and wide on the internet, using all my spare time to find questions that intrigued me, way beyond the recommendations of teachers who do nothing but force you to read textbooks and listen to their boring lectures. I instead found my own way of studying maths which not only made my marks skyrocket but also led me to develop a passion for solving these challenging problems that I’m sure we’ve all experienced when we tackled a hard problem.
